I'm thinking Puel will sell JRod, Long and Austin....don't want any of those la di dah strikers at our club.

 

Everyone I've spoke to has ripped Austin apart so far this pre season. Says he looks slow, overweight , and sluggish.

 

He has a very strange running style, that looks as if he is struggling, based on what I saw Wednesday. But so did MLT.
I'm not convinced he will fit the new style/system, because I think the system relies on very mobile strikers, but am hopeful he can score a few from the bench, if that becomes his role.

 

As many of you on here will no doubt know, I've been banging on about Bony and Benteke for months (and bit by bit, I think I'm getting shot down less and less). I personally think that Benteke is marginally the better player, but both would improve us - I'd be delighted with either. But if Bony is one-third of the price of Benteke, then it becomes a no contest. At £12m or £13m, Bony wouldn't even need to be that great a success for us to make that transfer fee value-for-money in today's climate.

That said, I expect the issue with both of them is wages.

 

We have lost 26 goals and gained 48m in the transfer of pelle and mane. Rather we done something sooner than later as the games come thick and fast.

I know you said he wasn't very mobile but I would hope he could get a bit closer than that.

 

Don't get why some people are panicking so much. We have enough quality upfront to start the season, and then have 24 days to bring in another attacker or two. Relax.

A far from confident, far from match fit jrod and a Charlie Austin also coming back from injury. Gallagher going out on loan.

I have to disagree with you on this one.

 

Enough for 3 games in August though. Don't see the rush in getting one in before next weekend.

 

One the one hand, more than weeks left in the transfer window is still a long time for us to (hopefully) improve our attacking options.

But the other hand we have very important home games against Watford and Sunderland before then. We do not want to be dropping points in those games. And aside from which, game one is no less important than game 23 or game 38. Who knows, we could have been challenging for top four last season if we'd not slipped up against Newcastle, Watford, WBA and Everton early on last season. Did we sell Long while I was on holiday?

 

I didn't include him in this as Shane is Shane and we all know he'll be fit and ready to go. It was more pointing out other than Shane we look vunerable.

But we have all been over this all summer, and it hasn't changed anything so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

 

Can't see us buying another forward.

 

If you are debating numbers of players in a position, probably best to include all the relevant players.

It also been suggested Redmond may be used as a striker too.

 

Oh I give up at the moment, no offence to anyone on here, but we are going to look so stupid come December time when we are struggling for goals. I really don't want it to happen, but if anyone can sit here and honestly say theyre happy with our attacking options and we dnt need to add anything then I'm kind of lost for words.
