He scored 18 league goals. That would have been a good return at Atletico. The fact it's at Eibar is even more impressive I think.

I share your despair, but it's a bit harsh to blame St Helen's for Glamorgan's abysmal performance.
Northants, who are not a great side, seemed to like the place.
Too many supporters down this end to give up the venue, I would have thought.
Most of Glamorgan's 'history' was created at St.Helen's.

The City of Swansea is steeped in history, but down the years, the powers that be have simply bulldozed most of it away, or allowed it to fall into a serious state of dilapidation.

The Mumbles Railway was the oldest passenger train in the world. Gone.

Weavers Building was the first reinforced concrete structure in Europe. Gone.

Wm.Morris built the first block of workers flats overlooking Morriston. Not gone, but merely a ruin.

St.Helen's. One of the most famous sporting arenas anywhere in the world. Not gone, but it was allowed to fall into serious disrepair, and is now a mere shadow of it's former self. A recently installed plaque commemorating Garfield Sobers' six sixes just doesn't cut it, for me anyway.

When I think of all the money that has been wasted on continuous roadworks on Mumbles Road down the years, I get apoplectic. A portion of that money could have given St.Helen's a new lease of life. What a great benefit that would have been to the City.

End of rant. Sorry to you non cricket fans'.

Although I agree with a lot of the above I must point out that since the powers to be decided to concentrate county cricket at SG at the loss of using the traditional welsh grounds around the country then I can understand the lack of investment at St Helens but imo don't blame the council blame the WAG for allowing the game of cricket to be centralised in the utopia which is cardiff .The rest of Wales has been denied the chance to watch 1st class cricket for too many years due to political ambitions and centralisation .

and by the the way, the Wm Morris block of flats was a ruin when Queen Victoria was girl <ok>

The Wm.Morris block could have been preserved even if it had been built during the Roman occupation. Don't see the problem in preserving something that has a major historical value.

Preservation work is now taking place at the Copper Works in Hafod, I understand.

St.Helen's was dilapidating well before the move to Cardiff. It's use wouldn't have been exclusively for cricket.

Anyway, we can agree to disagree.
