Morning all, it is beautiful Summer day in rural France. Our neighbours, both in their eighties, have been out doing their gardening for a couple of hours. This is something they do most mornings and the large garden is a glorious display because of it. At this time of year his favoured mode of dress is a very garish pair of beach shorts, tee shirt and a hat that would not look out of place at Lord's cricket ground. His wife is a more modest dresser and prefers an all white set of clothes, but also has a matching hat. Enjoy your day whatever you plan.

Morning all, weather as normal, not a cloud in sight. As it is the first Sunday in August the nearest small town will be holding the annual large brocante sale under the shade of some poplar trees. As with any car boot sale there will be an amazing collection of junk, but a friend loves it because he can often pick up an old radio valve still in the original packaging to help restore a wireless , one of his hobbies. I can think of better things to do with my time, but it does have social value as you will meet someone as you wander round who you haven't seen for a long time. As communities are well tucked away in the countryside you often do not see people you know for many months. When you have seen it all there is always the bar that you can retire to.
We have a massive one in St Leonard it always amazes me how much people want for tat.... and the same unsold tat is on sale at the next one!
Morning all, when I raised myself from bed this morning it was bright blue sky. Another hot one coming I thought, but then from the north-west some cloud has rolled in. Much cooler for the moment, but the man at the Meteo has put his hand out of the window and says it will pass over withing the next couple of hours. I would be more than happy if we had a couple of days of steady rain, but there is none on the horizon.
Well done to Ed Ling who won a bronze medal in the Trap, otherwise known as clay pidgeon shooting. Out here it is known as Ball Trap. The first time I noticed a sign for it amid watering eyes I reached for the dictionary and found out that it was not so painful.
Morning all, big news from rural France is that we had a five minute shower of rain this morning. The sun is back out again now. I hope that all goes well for those who have hospital appointments shortly.
