Newcastle aren't known for being the sanest of clubs though. I think it was probably just more money in a longer contract.

Benitez is a bit strict on them knowing how he wants them to play, I imagine.
Diame was xcellent in pre season. He woulda been A match winner for us.
Can't blame him for taking a huge contract but...
He'll cost a bomb to replace.
 
To be fair if we're being taken over I dont care if we dont sign any players whilst the Allams are still here... I just want them out of our club. If that means no new players until January and relegation... so be it..

HULL City still want Wales chief Chris Coleman as their new manager but Gianfranco Zola is waiting in the wings to replace Steve Bruce, who walked out on the club recently following a dispute over transfer policy at the Premier League newcomers.

Whoever gets the job could have a new striker on the books as Tigers vice-chairman Ehab Allam is believed to be hoping to land Hungary’s Nermanja Nikolic.

The 28-year-old would cost £3m from Legia Warsaw, who need him first for their champions League qualifiers against Dundalk.

I suspect if we spend anything now, it will be to allow Hernandez out the door, thus clawing back another 8 or 9 million. Surely, if they were seriously trying to strengthen, they would be going for a centre-half?

And what if the new manager who ever he turns out to be doesn't want him? Another bullshit story by the mouth piece of the Allams.
