We seriously need to sort our scouting system and get deals done quickly, It always seems to be us that gets linked to a player weeks before and never end up signing them. Why cant we be like other clubs who just announce a new signing without all the pre-crap?
There is a reason I do not think he will go to Burnley, especially if he talks to anyone who knows about their fan base
Or our scouting system is excellent, we find the right players, other less canny clubs are attracted and then outbid us. Probably over paying in the process. Nothing to be done about it except over pay ourselves.
We made two bids for him a month ago, both were under a million pounds. If we'd have bid anywhere near what the asking price was,he'd already be wearing the blue and white hoops. If he goes somewhere else,it's nobody's fault but our own. It will be another player we've let slip through our Rob Green like fingers !
You say that, but it is not the club's fault. As soon as a deal is being discussed you can bet your bottom dollar that the player's agent is on the phone hawking him to other clubs with the added advantage of knowing what QPR are willing to offer the player. A few delaying tactics - just to see if anyone else is interested. If they are, the player will often go to the highest bidder. There is nothing we can do about it. In the past we have been that highest bidder for a whole raft of players that we found out later were not actually worth it.
Or would people rather we were held to ransome as in the past few years? Let's face it whatever they do Les, Jimmy, Tony et al just can't win in some people's eyes. Overspend and they are mugs, refuse to pay over the odds and they are still mugs. It's a mugs game for sure.
agree don't try and pay Lidl prices and insult a club. No excuses that we keep losing out on players. Plenty of clubs with less money than us manage to do so, why can't we? Our fans will all start moaning when our team is not good enough to compete.
So do you think we shouldn't question things? I don't call it moaning, I call it being honest. We can all take the high ground and criticize others but if we do we should stand by our comments. I said Benny wasn't good enough and was mocked, i then saw those same fans turn on him. I would rather say what i see now than bitch later when things go wrong.
I think we should moan at things that have happened not things that might happen! We haven't played a game yet!!
None of us really knows what has been going on in our transfer negotiations, yet you and others are complaining nonetheless. I for one am quite happy with the business done so far. Yes, we need to sign a couple more, but let's wait and see how the squad is looking on August 31st.
I am happy with the signings Stroller. I just think we are too light up front. If the team is good enough why are we so desperate to strengthen? JFH said only 2 days ago we need more options up front and wanted to bring in 2-3 players. My concern is not what we have or deals done it's losing out on players we were clearly after.
Ever had your best bid on a house rejected or been gazumped Ellers? Same thing, sigh, say 'it wasn't meant to be' and then think how much better where you eventually end up is than the one you lost out on (even if it isn't true). Same thing.
I like your weird analogy Sb but it's a different thing. I have said for a long time that we are short up front and need to strengthen. I am now being told by posters on here that i am moaning and the season hasn't even started. This is because i am concerned that we are not getting deals done. Okay i won't complain but if things go wrong i expect you lot not to moan about it.
They have. We lost out on the Icelandic bloke, We may also lose out on the French guy. I won't mention Pritchard as i think he was a no go and too expensive. There have been others which the club has said went elsewhere. Let's look at it another way. JFH said he wanted a team in place to have a good pre-season, to bond for the start of the season. We know, according to him that we need to bring in 2-3 players. that is not a good start, especially since he has had half of last season to sort this. Already what he was saying last season has not materialised. As for the 'moaning' quote? plenty on here moan when things go wrong,
