The player is under no pressure to sign anything is he? He can sit on his contract and take the money knowing full well we'll buy him anyway. His club want rid now and we want him now so he'll take the most money he possibly can. This is the age we're in and we have to live with it ...... yes he waved at the supporters and smiled but he's just a mercenary like most of them.
Yeah it's possible he might be better than Kone so technically him coming in and Kone leaving could be an upgrade, but I was thinking more along the lines that we'll never get anywhere with a decent first eleven but no quality in the rest of the squad. It'd be nice to hold onto our best players and build a squad rather than the one in one out routine.
Now that's a strike, surely we have some of the best goalscoring centre backs in the league.....now only if we can add a few more goal threats up the pitch!
Good point Nacho - we need strength and depth. It's odds on that there'll be injuries and drops in form so we need competition throughout the squad. Given this has come out of the blue it probably confirms the Kone leaving as complete rubbish and journos creating column inches to justify their existence.
