The Bristol chairman is a wealthy guy. Made his money in finance. He doesnt NEED the money. He is a successful businessman, and I cant see him letting Maynard go for nothing unless they have a chance of promotion.
I think a lot will depend on Brizzles league position at Christmas/New Year as to whether they would sell him come the January window.
Maynard has already proven that he doesnt have blind loyalty to his club as he hasnt signed his new contract. Very few players have that sort of loyalty these days - if we sign him and Man U come in for him he would want to go.
In conclusion, the following scenarios make sense :-
    1) An offer to meet Brizzles expectations now.
    2) Could be sold in January if Brizzle are not pushing for promotion.
    3) Will leave for nothing at the end of the season or sign a new contract (unlikely) with Brizzle

My own thought is that we have offered more than enough for him now, so move on, buy someone else, and if Sven is still interested in him in January to review the situation then.

but you see the exciting growth ahead and want to be part of that, knowing your company is on the downfall and fear even redundancy!! By moving there is more money, more security and more success. So you would?

Also by us moving onto Long, arent you kinda mad our ridiculous offer wasnt taken as your ransom tactic of holding us for more failed? With the money we offered, you could have signed a very established replacement, and strengthened another are with a very established player. Now your season will be the same (not relegated, not promoted), without having the money in to replace maynard, so you'll have have a much poorer team next year as a result.

mr. bristol, your right, we can't offer half empty stadiums..7,000 for wba.... 32,000 for our big friendly....maynard is the big i am at your club...he would be one of many here...we can't offer midtable mediocrity..no, we offer the pressure to achieve now...rather than a quite life in a tranquil backwater....perhaps he just hasn't got the fire in the belly, your club appears to have no ambition, no investment, just the odd loan.....instead of giving us stick, why not give your board stick? demand a bit of what we are getting...after all your money is as good as our fans money....your doing your boards work for them...stop making excuses up for your tight wads...as for maynard ....good luck to him....plenty more fish in the sea...

Course he has, all he has to do is hand in a transfer request.

Maybe he doesnt want to leave Bristol on bad terms. If he forces through a move it will leave a sour taste in all the Bristol fans mouth but if we get a bid accepted and he agrees to move here it looks like it was the clubs decision

I understand what your saying, but you just dont get it do you?

Leicester are still going to be playing the same teams as Bristol, yes you may have more of a chance of promotion etc.

I really dont see why you can not grasp it....

I cant see him signing a new contract for us now to be honest, like everyone said, if he was going to sign then he would have by now.

He is just going to see his contract out, become a free transfer and can demand more wages on a free.

You only had 32k fans there to see Real Madrid not to watch you.......

If you get 32k fans when you play Barnsley, then i will be impressed, but until then, keep quiet and when you talk to me, i would prefer you to address me as "Sir" after all, i am far superior than yourself.

I don't know what all the bitching is about. I bear no malice to BCFC or Maynard. I think The Brizzle chairman has done a great job in holding on to Maynard and good luck to him; he is protecting his interest. We may have lost interest in signing Maynard but that is because we aren't looking likely to get him at the price we are prepared to pay. Likewise Brizzle aren't selling as they haven't had an offer that has tempted them yet. Don't know what all the fuss is about...

    What's more arrogant -
Leicester thinking they have a good chance of promotion and are bigger than Bristol (true)
    or
Bristol thinking they are as big as Leicester and that Maynard going to them would be a sideways move (false)

You are the deluded and arrogant ones here, you just can't handle the truth <ok>

And you need to stop getting all defensive about one player, I can't believe how much pleasure you take from telling us we won;t be buying him <laughing>

Have to agree Burmese, its business, pure and simple. Bristol want x amount, we will only pay whatever, which is nowhere near x amount. End of story, i have no prob with BCFC or their supporters, and if LCFC had a prized assett, and our chairman fought as hard to keep him at our club, i would be delighted.
I find it a little bit irritating that so many of the threads on here, and foxestalk, degenerate into, tit for tat slagging off contests.
If we spank cov 4-0 on sat Maynard will be a distant memory, so lets just get on with the season...............c'mon

Since when is EVERYTHING about playing in the same league? Say you're a footballer - where would you rather be - at ateam winning or a team losing?

If you haven't noticed, a Premier League team doesn't want Maynard. Maybe they don't want him at the end of the season either?

Anyone with half a brain can see that even if he didn't get promoted with us he'd still have had a more enjoyable season with us. We can offer him higher wages too.

I'm not saying he does want to come, but to make out there's no reason for him to want to come is ****ing ******ed (not to mention arrogant)

Don't try and argue with attendances, you're worse than Coventry, our average is 10K more than yours.

All the fuss is about Bristol fans getting very defensive because we've dared to try and sign their player, whilst calling us arrogant for saying we are an attractive proposition for him.

I thought that was pretty obvious.

The fact is maynard and your board are taking bristol fans for a ride....and you don't get it.....mr.loyal won't sign a new deal ,you have said that yourself.. even though he owes bristol for last season...the only real asset you have, will get the club no return...bad business.....i could care less if we get him or not....ive alway been sceptical over his injury record....its no use having a rolls royce, if you can't get it out of the garage...im sure bristol fans will have a nice warm glow when the window closes....then reality will bite....3million would of just gone out of the window.....This close season, the only reason bristol have had any profile in the media is over this saga..otherwise no one would care tuppence about them...hard but true..

Ok lets put it another way, one in which you may understand, you uneducated muppet!

Maynard is probably the best player currently at our club, and will be (assuming he stays fit) the top scorer for us.

If he joined you, he would no longer become the best player, and maybe not the top scorer either. And if you dont go up, he then looks pretty mediocre in striker terms, but if he is top scorer for us and we end up mid table, it makes him look a lot better, there for a prem club coming in for him on a free and offering him a lot more than you lot would ever be able to offer.

Now get your head out your backside and stop chatting utter tosh!

And if you are going to talk to me, address me as "Sir" i told you that earlier!
