Will be a good warm up for the City game, the lads can get a lot of practice running around chasing after the ball.
Jermain Defoe could travel with the rest of the Sunderland squad to Austria today after a thigh injury – which kept him out of all three friendlies in France last week – was not as serious as first feared. Jack Rodwell and Patrick van Aanholt could also feature against Dortmund after they were not risked in Saturday’s draw with Montpellier due to minor niggles. But Jan Kirchhoff is due to remain on Wearside after suffering a concerning hamstring injury against Montpellier which could see him miss the start of the season. Cool. That means our midfield at the moment going into the season is Cattermole, Rodwell and Larsson.
I don't like the feeling I'm getting about him. He sounds defeatist and said he didn't take the job last season because he thought it was an impossible job for us to stay up. He also made that stupid ****ing comment about M'Vila and seeing if they were better valued players out there. He also said he's not up-to-date with footballers, and needs to get in the game again. He hasn't been prepared for this at all and instead of keeping an interest, it comes across like he's been sitting with his finger up his backside. His main targets seem to be Fellaini and Januzaj. He's really put a lot of thought and scouting into it
This wont cheer you up then http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...moyes-gives-ex-everton-man-a-chance-1-8049827
Oh ffs. He's finished If he plays a part against Dortmund, in what is our final pre-season game, then that will show just how serious the situation at the club is.
If Dortmund put out a full strength side I can see us getting a right hiding today. The next 8days look daunting. Hope we are in much better position come boro. Cannot cope with the grief from smoggies, they are purring waiting for this game.
My concerns about Moyes - and ma n y others: What happened during the FA time while he was supposedly lined up - not preparing or researching for the new job - looks like Short said David job here -"I'll take it - I was unfairly treated at ManU - I'll show them " Reality check option now kicks in - much easier to get players to NW than NE David
Bet he gets injured - honestly he's 3-5 years past it - a journey man looking for a pay off - if he was good at Everton they would'nt have let him go
I'm guessing he's intended to be a back-up, just like Harper was last season, but he may end up filling in until further signings are made.
Sam was half way there imo, with Moyes it is back to square one, and he does not look or sound like a short term operator and at the moment is like a fish out of water, apart from turning back to his previous clubs he seems short of ideas.
It does feel as though Moyes lacks a sense of urgency. If he had come in at the end of last season then yes take the time to check out M'Villa etc before authorising it but with the time left when he came in you need players and if they are good and want to actually be there (no convincing or selling of the club required) then he needed to get them in for training asap. It feels to me as though he's making himself a ready made excuse for the first handful of games. I think he's a good manager, it just feels like he's not realised the season actually kicks off in 8 days.
As a back up would be fine but back up to who ? Hope he is not seen by Moyes as a better value player than M'Villa - Hopefully a temp solution hope it's not a sign of our business - become over loaded with loans and panic buys al la Steve Bruce & Roy Keane etc more BSA buys the
