We've lost a badge kissing captain before and that turned out okay. If he went to United I'd be massively sad, a bit upset, but I'd get it. If he went to Everton, sorry, but he can do one. If he went back to Portugal, again, I'd be sad, but I'd get it.

 

I hear he thinks he's been disrespected by someone high up the food chain at Saints and is waiting for that person to say sorry, so the sulk goes on until that happens.

 

It's he hasn't posted a single thing since he's arrived back after the Euros, which is unlike him. Cedric and other players did. He hasn't been interviewed by the club or anything, and you would think they would make a biig deal about our fantastic captain having won the bloody Euros! His body language at the friendly the other night. The fact that there has supposedly been an improved contract on the table for him for while and he's yet to sign it. That Man Utd are supposedly interested and Mourinho is their manager now.

I'm not panicking and won't until it happens, just saying that all doesn't seem right in the camp of Jose Fonte.

Well if he does go my dislike of Jose ****ing Mourinho will hit heights that I'd really thought impossible.

Much as I like Fonte I'd expect him to go if Man U are serious, chance to add at least a couple of trophies over the next two years to keep the Euro and JPT ones company.

Its unlikely he would be allowed to leave unless a ridiculous offer was made. I will be upset as I have him on my shirt.

But if a big offer comes in he may be sold. Not what I want, think experience at the heart of defense is crucial.

Maybe somebody parked in his space...who knows how much it takes to disrespect a multi millionaire footballer these days. Being the pragmatic sort, I'm actually not bothered by the rumour that Fonte could be offski...We'll do our usual to make sure we get a solid replacement next to VVD and it'll be business as usual and we'll all move on.
I don't sense a great deal of panic from people, more a sense of resignation that a club hero could be seeking 'new challenges' and will leave...all based on very little.
When Fran finally comes clean and admits that she has had Jose securely locked up in her basement dungeon for a while, hence his lack of tweets, we can all laugh about it and move on...or he'll leave and we'll get a new CB. (might need a new one anyway though after Fran has 'looked after Jose' - like a really scary football version of misery.)

I'm not too concerned over losing Fonte the footballer as i believe he is replacable, however losing Fonte the icon would be a hammer blow and would leave a bad taste.

Exactly, with the Euros he has had hardly any time off at all. He also played almost every game for us as well. Been a long season.

Sign Wimmer from Spurs and let him develop into a top centre half, problem solved.

 

VVD or Steven Davis would make excellent captains in his place. But, losing him as our current icon would be a huge blow. Can't blame him though, if he's offered crazy money ........... just hope we stick a massive price tag on him to make the bastards pay ..............
