Sporting Lisbon have turned down a bid for prolific striker Islam Slimani. The bid is believed to have been made by Saints?
He has now handed in a transfer request??

 

Would be surprised if we paid the amount they'd want (at least £20m+) for a 28 year old. Very good player and I would like us to sign him. But can't see it because of his age.

Fonte has liked several of saints and other saints players Instagram photos of training etc since returning.... Some people pick up on very random things.

Was the same everywhere back then. Even now there is still trouble at games where there is a high attendance. The Imps took about 1,200 and the attendance was over 14,000 for a second leg game where Man City were already 4-1 behind.

I find the comparison above by someone of Man City laughable. They aren't comparable to Chelsea. Chelsea had no fans before they started doing well in the Prem. They couldn't get near our (or Man City's) League 1 attendances when they were a division above last time.

As for the "ruthless" getting rid of Pearce?? Adkins anyone? The hoovering up of foreign players? How many home countries are in our first 15? The hoovering up of foreign youngsters? We have started doing that too.

I think we should be careful on this glass houses and all that. We might be sensible in terms of not throwing silly money around but we are a club that went down the divisions and was bought by moneybags and have not been frightened to buy our way up the ladder.

 

You only have to think back 7 years. How did you feel?

 

Think the writing is on the wall with fonte. If i were a betting man id put money on him being gone come the start of the season sadly

I don't have Instagram but I went onto Fonte's to have a snoop about and there is a serious lack of anything Southampton related from the end of the season until now. There isn't a single photo which links him to the Saints. Why hasn't he signed the new deal yet? Feel like the evidence is slowly mounting but I hope I'm horribly wrong.
