I am late to this best team - Lloris Alderweireld King Mabbutt Anderton Bale (wing backs) Popescu Modric Van der Vaart Sheringham Berbatov Subs Gomes Dier Dembele Lennon Keane Kranjcar Defoe
Here's a tricky one. I could use some help here: Missed Transfer Targets XI (either players who were close to joining but didn't, or players who were eternally linked to us across multiple transfer windows) Sorensen Van Bommel Rivaldo Charlie Adam J. Moutinho Will.I.am Eto'o Damiao
There was a rumour we nearly signed van der vaart. Wait..... OH MY GOD WE SIGNED RAFAEL VAN DER VAART
This team is a team of my favourite players who in my opinion were either under-rated or not always given the credit I think they deserved and I know some of these names will surprise some! Walker Kelly Dawson Ruddock BAE Kranjcar Huddlestone Jenas Malbranque Pavlyuchenko Defoe
Good shout on Coentrao. That one dragged on for almost an entire window right up until the gong struck at midnight. Which Cahill was it? I don't remember us being linked with either but I vaguely remember a few rumours surrounding Gary when he left Bolton.
Transfer saga XI Lloris; Alderweireld, Musacchio, Fryers; Bostock, Diego, Parker, Reid; Berahinho, Batshuayi, Leandro
There was some lad reported to be actually in a helicopter on the way to Spurs Lodge one deadline day evening. Reckon he deserves a spot.
http://footylatest.com/ryan-babel-i...-but-will-he-join-tottenham-or-west-ham/16059 Ryan Babel when he was at Liverpool. It became the running joke on the beeb's deadline day feed from then on. EDIT: Cannot believe I forgot Saido 'Pram' Berahino
The Alderweireld one was hilarious, purely because of the reaction of the Southampton fans. Utterly outraged at Spurs, despite us not actually doing anything wrong!
The thing about Ghaly is he wasn't actually a bad player. He made a mistake which in my opinion got blown way out of proportion.
Shed a tear when they left XI Robbo Carr Campbell (I know) Dawson BAE Lennon Huddlestone Steed VDV Berbatov Defoe (twice)
So I guess there is room for a "wanted to club them to a pulp when they left" XI and a "incomings that most upset opposition supporters" XI ?? For the latter, I assume Spurs have signed 11 Soton players in recent times (who is not as important as the total - just to keep this one short) ??
I was at the Wigan cup match when he was booed coming on as a sub and Harry had to tell him to go sit back down. I booed and regretted it almost immediately and still do. Others did far worse and got less grief. I'm sure he continued to play on after having teeth knocked out on one occasion
It also doesn't matter who actually signed the players, as Soton fans seem to assume that our scouting team does work on the side for United, Arsenal and Liverpool.
Whole squad buggers off to three other teams: We sign one player that was on loan to them for a season:
Yes but don't forget how we 'unsettled' Poch and 'tapped him up all season', despite him going on record as early as November to state that if Nicola Cortese went, he went too. Speaking of people called Nicola, does anyone remember Nicola Berti?! We went through a weird phase between 1996-2003 where we had this fetish for signing glamorous sounding midfielders who turned out to be utterly cack
He did, one of our ex-players did it too, Pamarot at Pompey (although maybe before we had him?) Scored a few goals for us, notably a decent one vs Chelsea. He was an ok player i thought, made 1 mistake.
