Burnley should be full of confidence having won the Championship with an impressive record of 93pts, with 26 victories and only 5 defeats in their 46 games. So far Burnley have signed Nick Pope & Johann Berg Gudmundsson from Charlton, and Jamie Thomas from Bolton, whilst have said goodbye to 5 players including Joey Barton. Since the end of last season, the Swans have signed (so far) Mike van der Hoorn, Mark Birighitti and Leroy Fer (who had been on loan from QPR). However, there have been quite a number of departures, including Gomis, Eder, Paloschi, Bartley & Grimes - with rumours persisting about the possible loss of both Ashley Williams & Andre Ayew...... Huw Jenkins, the Swans Chairman, has indicated that we can expect to see some new signings shortly - hopefully at least one striker before the season starts. Arguably, the biggest piece of news during the Summer was the (long) expected takeover by an American led consortium that purchased 68% of the issued share capital. The Swans have played Burnley on 40 occasions and honours are even - 14 wins apiece with 12 draws. When Burnley were in the PL the season before last, the Swans secured the double, winning both matches 1-0. Nathan Dyer the scorer at the Liberty, with Trippier scoring an own goal at Turf Moor. Opening matches of the season can be difficult to predict - especially against newly promoted teams who are on a high. However, I'm going for a 1-1 draw.
To be honest, last season I tried to put the thread up about a week before each game. Trouble is, I won't have much chance before Sunday and I can't wait for the season to start ....... yep, in other words ..... I'm bored!
I'd like to see who goes before I predict. As it stands we could still see players go. Ash and Ayew mostly. If we loose either or worse both, I fear we won't have time for any new addition to be ready to play.
Banana skin possibility right out of the gate . I cringed at this one soon as I seen our fixture list . It is an opportunity at the same time to quick start our confidence .
I am away for this one and the Hull game, I MAY have my ST available for the Hull game after I have checked with my mate as to whether he wants them. I agree to early for me to predict, but if we have what we have now, I would go for a 1-1.
Seems to me when you missed certain games last season ....we won ( whistling ) SO ...could be a silver lining .
They did indeed, Watford and Liverpool at home. I will be trying to find a bar in Rhodes to watch the rolling results.
Thanks Taff good post. 3-1 Swans no probs 25/1 Result and both to score 5/1 Bets taken via PP Thankyou.
Really looking forward to this season (now) with Siggy, Barrow, Monty (hopefully Ayew) and Llorente we are showing we mean business in attacking...another striker (borja) and we will be a powerhouse. Think by Christmas Barrow will have really landed himself as a name on the premier league stage
I'm concerned about this one. We managed to scrape a win up at Turf Moor last time out, but during their last season in the Prem they gave a few big clubs a torrid time at the Moor. Any away Premiership point is a bonus so I'd settle for a draw. 2-2.
3 points and Llorente opening his account ....nothing less . Would set a tone early . If we sh:t the bed , that would set a tone too . Big game in the big picture . 2-0 Swans, well if I'm going to wish big I might as well throw in a clean sheet for Fab ..
