Think you're wide of the mark, Elland. I can't imagine us fielding a team with so many with no match fitness. Oddly enough, although Viera is match fit, I don't think he'll be risked for our opening match. My guess (and we're all guessing!), is: -----------------------Green-------------------- Coyle-------Bamba-----Bartley-------Taylor -----------Diagouraga----Murphy------------ Dallas------------Mowatt--------------Roofe ---------------------Wood---------------------- Subs Turnbull or Silvestri (can't call it) Berardi Cooper Bridcutt Hernandez Sacko Antonsson
We're a bit toothless up front and assuming we play Onuoha at right-back against either Roofe or Dallas you'll have some joy down that wing. Our strengths are probably your weaknesses- a good goalkeeper and decent spine of the team. I just hope Green continues his stellar form of his last 18 months at QPR into Sunday.
He was doing fine until you dropped him for financial/ contract reasons... Lets not be writing a fairy story.... He is still a good keeper at this level.
He was doing abysmally long before that and retained his place in the team for reasons none of us could understand. He did have a good season when we went back up but it was dire stuff from the middle of the season before last until he was finally dropped.
When we want the opinions of an expert in pub league footie we will let you know........... Until then...
Nothing to do with your owners telling him that he would have to moved on because of his contract then? He is certainly better than the last two keepers we have had to endure.
He had opportunities to leave but chose to sit on the money even when he knew he wouldn't be playing. That's fair enough but doesn't explain a year of flapping before that. He might have a great game on Sunday but my honest opinion based on his last 18 months at QPR is that he's just not a good goalkeeper any more.
Even a poor one is an improvement on Fat Paddy Kenny or Silvestri the injury faker! Hell at 53 I would be better than them.
