My 9 year old niece was given the all clear yesterday following a 2 year battle with cancer (lukemia to be exact). She spent most of the time in Manchester Children's Hospital having some horrid treatment which made her very sick and bald. As if that wasn't enough it didn't work so she had to have a bone marrow transplant as a last resort - some bloke in Germany donated. Anyway, my sister posted a little video of her ringing a bell (tradition in that hospital apparently) to announce her departure and the end of her treatment. It's made me want to donate bone marrow. And it helped me to get life into perspective.
Big Congrats to your niece, that is fantastic news for you all. My cousin lost her life to that disease 21 years ago aged 6 so I know how it effects the family's.
Brilliant news, too young for a bit of so instead, substitute a nice big which I am sure will be well received...!
Nice to hear this fantastic news,so happy for you all. I now what that horrible disease can do. It took my mum three years ago.
Cheers guys. Yes, she never complained - at one time she asked if she was going to die - heart wrenching stuff.
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC NEWS .... there are many things that bring life into perspective and it is often only when something happens that the abruptness of it dawns... we take a lot for granted .. and often it is others, least expected that comes up trumps... such events especially with children always brings a tear to my eye ... hopefully you can pass on the good wishes of this forum to her ....
Mate, so glad for you and your niece.. My closest friend who used to work with RODs wife and has briefly posted on here, is currently battling cancer and its so hard to watch someone you are so close to having to go through that treatment on a daily basis. He's keeping a very positive attitude though and I'm sure he'll be ok! Also my daughters close friend has battled leukaemia through childhood and is just clear now after 5 years, lovely lad and so glad that more people seem to be surviving this vile disease. What an absolute hero that German guy is. I wouldn't have the guts to do it as much as I would love to do so.
Wonderful news bcfc and warm wishes for all your family from beautiful Vancouver Island in the sunshine.
