One noticeable feature of the summer has been the complete lack of buy-out stories.

Presumably the Varney/Kuwaiti deal has hit the buffers over the libel action, but what about the other reported interest fronted by ex Charlton defender Paul Elliott?

The sale of Wolverhampton Wanderers got me thinking - bought for a reported £44m lock stock and barrel, including an excellent modern stadium and a better, Championship-standard playing squad than what we currently suffer/enjoy.

Surely this sale proves beyond all doubt that if and when Duchatelet does take his virus-ridden vision of football elsewhere in Europe, he has absolutely no hope whatsoever of achieving his reported aim of "getting his money back".

With over £38m owed to Staprix in the last accounts, and that debt set to increase now we are in League One, I think the very best sale figure he will ever get for Charlton is around half that.

It seems increasingly obvious to me now that the next phase of his sick plan for Charlton is to starve the club of cash - just like the b*stard did to Ujpest when things went pear shaped.

    Thoughts on our real value?

I just have this horrible feeling that when his time is up, he will sell / take anything that's not bolted down. I believe he has history of emptying bank accounts at a previous club.
You only hope that when the day finally arrives, the new buyers are smarter and add conditions of sale.

Paul was given the run around at the start of the summer. Haven't heard anything since.

There was a very vague story on CL a month back from a cab driver who gave a famous footballer a lift somewhere and was told Charlton fans would be getting some great news around the end of the year. But really, Roland put a price on the club way above what it was worth last season, and the veiw was he wasn't desperate to sell - anyone wanting to purchase would have to meet his greedy aspirations. Who would pay that sort of money for a league 1 club losing money hand over foot? There are buyers out there, but Roland seems to think that putting some new seats in has increased the value, and pays no account of the football being played in front of the seats.

When RD looks to sell, it will be done as quickly as he brought it. He'll have pillaged the club and then accept a somewhat decent fee considering he has stripped it.

I can't imagine what another season of mediocrity will bring. Will be lucky to have 5,000 in the stadium if we don't go up. I know a few chaps on CL are planning on going to Belgium, I would like to get involved in that.

No idea what's the value now, it must be going down all the time. Our CEO isprobably telling Roland how she's turning it round, by the time he realizes how f***ed we really are we will only have the Valley of any value. Several years ago I had some building work done by a certain Richard Guy who turned out to be Dicky Guy, the former Wimbledon goalie, who told me proudly that he had been asked to be President of. AFC Wimbledon. We were in the Premier League, they were down in non-league limbo. If Roland doesn't sell I expect to finish below them this season. To me this perfectly shows how RD and KM are capable of destroying our club with their incompetence. The question is, what will be Roland's exit "strategy, and when? How low will he take us before he feels prepared to take a hit? We don't know.

Considering planning permission for housing will never be given at Sparrows Lane & is highly unlikely at the Valley, I reckon the club is now worth something like £15-20m

in the long run, it may be better to be relegated. the "real" value of cafc will only be about £10m then, with the twat probably asking for £15m. this is affordable for anyone who has the patience to wait for us to get back to the championship.

as long as the new buyer owns the ground and the training ground, we'll always be worth a punt.

I'm still totally bemused as to why there is no governing body involvement into the plight of football clubs under the threat of outside (largely foreign) investment; even if we all know the answer as to why there isn't. Even yesterday reading that the new Wolves owner is a personal friend of 'super agent' Jorge Mendes and will expect to bring in players from his staple is disgusting and concerning.

Change and lobby for it needs to come from the grassroots and from the fans, but in all honesty it's too late now.

The head of the FA admitting he knows nothing about football, just about sums it up.

As a bit of an anarchist, I can faithfully say the club is worth whatever you can get for it. Roland was, I believe, asking for 38 million last season. I'd love to see him sell (I have some champagne waiting for a momento like that) but the idea of him making anything other than a loss hurts. He has done what he has done, and I just want the Valley to become so toxic for him and his bint that he sells up despit taking a huge financial hit - he has earnt it a thousand times over. The idea of him being financially rewarded for the chaos he has caused really sticks in my craw.

I see Jim Davidson has posted on Facebook that he has taken the difficult decision to boycott from this season. Better late than never.

Not many Apologists left now still clinging on to the Regime like flies on sh1t.

Sue Parkes of course, plus Olly Groome & Mick Everett, but can't think of many others.

And the valley can't be toxic if everyone boycotts the place ...low attendances mean easy ride for RD and KM in my book

You cannot have it both ways.

The best protest has been very successful, it could have been better, but to have 5000 people not renew has been fantastic. As a result you will be left with the people who shrug their shoulders and go home.

Maybe so BUT I don't think low crowds will force him out if crowds were 6,000 each week then it'll be 6,000 he won't lose sleep over it .
Meanwhile no protests in or outside the ground KM has an easy ride and we carry on .

Roland will do things his way, that is up to him. He won't be doing it with my money through. Call it a boycott or whatever, but the fact is nobody knows what affects him. The protests just give CEO the opportunity to play the victim, which she revels in. She sees it as a war, and last night she won a battle by setting a 5live presenter against the fans, as Vol says. If there was an obvious answer as to getting Roland out we'd all be doing it.
