What a bizarre video! Looks like it was recorder from the tv by a video camera in someone's bedroom! To be fair there are a couple of decent finishes in there
Bloody hell some of these youtube videos look like they were filmed through Mark Clattenburg's glasses.
Our match day squad that day: Tottenham: Sullivan, Carr, Perry, Young, King, Davies, Leonhardsen, Sherwood, Clemence, Rebrov, Doherty. Subs: Walker, Korsten, Gardner, Thelwell, Piercy. You can see why most of my youth was spent wondering how much longer Stephen Carr could carry the entire club on his shoulders. Davies wasn't bad and Ledley was up and coming but that is truly a shower of ****e if I've ever seen one That season was an absolute rollercoaster; the ever-unpopular George Graham was sacked in March for what were basically made up reasons by Levy and the new ENIC owners. If I remember correctly, the last straw was a run of four 0-0 draws we managed in February Then the messiah returned to his ancestral homeland and slowly but surely the sun shone through the clouds again. If only Hoddle had been appointed the previous summer...one of football's greatest travesties is that David Ginola never played under Glenn Hoddle.
Still rankles with me how Sherwood was treated by so many of our fans. Back to the best team, and Redknapp and Malbranque would be worth a place in the squad imo.
Most over-rated XI Friedel Corluka Dawson Woodgate Gallas Lennon Huddlestone Parker Anderton Crouch Defoe All good players but big weaknesses at least when they played for us......
I personally think he was past his best when he joined tbh. But you're quite right - that doesn't excuse the way a section of the fanbase treated him. I think the broader problem was that the atmosphere at the club was generally extremely toxic. We'd been through a succession of managers with very little to show for it, the incumbent manager was incredibly unpopular and his dour brand of football was loathed by the WHL faithful. I can't remember my grandfather, God rest his soul, being more upset about his beloved club than the latter years of the Sugar regime. Paltry investment on and off the pitch with insane decisions being made upstairs. The club had plummeted from a top 3 finish and FA cup medals to relegation fodder in less than a decade, and there seemed to be no way out of the black hole consuming all happiness at the Lane. I think Sherwood, 30 years old and captain of PL champions, was looked upon to carry the team to greater things but even he wasn't up to the task. The whole club was stuck in a great depression of sorts that not even the LC in 1999 could heal. It needed to press 'reset' and start again. Luckily, two much needed breaths of fresh air arrived that year. Hoddle and Levy. Love them or lump them, ENIC's overall contribution to this club has been immense.

I did think that but Jason Cundy is such a twat on talk sport that I had to choose him over Austin. Although was Cundy a right back or left back? If left back then Austin is in!
