I don't think he'll be a world beater for us but I think given time Klopp will be able get him playing the right way.

 

Thats why i wouldn't of signed him the first place but i think he can be a decent squad option as an attacking midfielder, him playing so deep doesn't make a lot of sense for me.

 

I guess Klopp thinks he can make him into an even better player than that he is now.

I trust Klopp though

this was line up for this game..

minger, clyne, lovern, klavan and moreno did not play together. can and henderson did not play together, wijladum got 70mins in. manes, fimrino, coutino did not play together.

So thus far this preseason we have not put out a full side IMO.

It will be interesting to see who plays 90mins v arsenal thats for sure.

We need to actually get on with it now. We play barcelona this weeked. then 24 hours later v mainz in minz. surely to god we will be sending a reserve unit to germany and not killing out players.

Team should now be back and in some sort of rest scenario for full training tomorrow.

I'm sure Klopp knows better than I do and I trust him, but this does bother me.
If I were manager (don't laugh) I would want to see how my preferred starting line-up played together by now.

The attack was fluid and exciting in the first half last night, and Sturridge could have got a couple with a little more luck. The defence still looked ropey though.
Second half, wholesale changes again, anti-climax again for me. The attack just slowed to walking pace at times and I can't really see the point of putting Wisdom and Stewart out there as a pairing when it's not going to happen in real life.

Ah well....

 

I think with Klopp he wants an understanding from his whole squad in how he wants to play. If the players know then anyone can start and perform at a decent level. Whats the point in playing our strongest team and then bench players run around without having a clue.

 

I'm thinking more of playing these latter pre-season games the same as the "real" ones. Start with your best line-up - introduce bench players in the same way as you would in a league game.
Like I say, I trust Klopp knows what he's doing - I'm just putting myself in his position and I wouldn't want to go into the first game of the season not having given my preferred line-up a bit of match practice together for a few games. Wholesale changes at half time just takes the steam out of the game, and experimenting with pairings that are highly unlikely to be used in anger seems a bit wasteful at so late a stage.
I'm not really criticising that much, just saying that I'd need to see what I'm getting earlier than this. But then, what do I know?

I just think there is an element of euro delaying that getting of the team together.

However i do feel the roma game was one too many and not needed at all and the mainz game is utterly pointless givne its 24 hours after the barca one!

For me the barca game is the only one where we will see a first team emerge... IF we even see it.

 

Euros clearly hasn't helped, we were lucky that we didn't really have any one past the quarters play so everyone's crack with few weeks of pre season left where as Arsenal are struggling with few French players and Sanchez not back from hollibobs yet.

 

I think as it stands we've played too many games.

1. injuries. karius is just plain bad luck. so probably is gomez but we can't really know. Sahko maybe.... Gomez played no games so we can't know if it was intensity or what. Matip, played too long? grujic, bad luck... lucas played too long. Origi??? deffo there is something i nthe training where we've broken a few and a few have been bad luck

2. This week so far. we could have been back sunday and in trianing monday in melwood. instead we fly to st louis. poke aorund some place for a day or so pla a game then fly home after it losing those 2/3 days.

3. next weekend half the guys fly to mainz.. why?? should be a recovery day after barca then into a full week of the prem buildup week. now we will lose a day during that week for half the players!

 

A bit ridiculous to give up even before the season starts , isn't it?

We could do a Leicester and forge an incredible team. But so far, we haven't IMO got anone who could galvanise the team like a Mahrez . Who knows Wijnaldum could be a new Suarez.

Bit harsh, he saves a shot point blank from 2 yards out, off balance and none of the defenders react to try and then clear the ball instead giving Roma forwards clear run to it.

I'd ask why the first guy had a free header 3 yards out in the middle of the goal personally.

 

yes, coutinho was **** at covering LB, stewart as emergency CB was nowhere. LB was AWOl... mingolet saves the header then wisomd backs into the guy who headed it rather than clearing it..

then mingolet flapped and panicked.

I agree, but once the haters start then they'll jump all over the slightest error as evidence to justify themselves.

 

Was there a mass brawl at HT?

 

I think if we weren't talking £££ you'd get rid of the Barca game, because nobody in the PL is going to dominate possession and be as lethal going forward as Barcelona are. So its not a very realistic friendly to gauge our level before the season on, IMO. Then again pre season games have become nothing to do with preparing for the season and just commercial exercises and trying to spread the 'brand' around the globe.
