Getting these guys on new signed contracts is great news! To me that suggests they've both bought in to DM's plans for the future, which is very promising! Another 2/3 in before City, and a couple more after that before the deadline? As long as those signed are front-line players, and not young potentials, and include a RB, AM and a striker, that would be a good summer window for me. There's still time, and grounds for cautious optimism.
If we just get 3 in for those 3 places that would be a result mate. He's well aware of our priorities, as we are. And there are still 4 weeks to go. Time enough. I'm hopeful. DM's got a great track record in the transfer market. I'm also half expecting demoralisation at the window close as well mind. Par for the course really.
Isn't that ironic that picture in the link shows £18m valued Kone beating £50m valued Stones to score a goal
Exactly our manager is not an attraction to players wanting to come due to his recent failing bagage at Man U and in Spain. No continuity and it's hard attracting players here to begin with - Benitez reputation (& silly money) having no problems getting players to the Mags '- its looking like the Short reason is a problem -lack of money and not many assets left to strip -it's looking grim - Blindus Faithus is all we have to cling to atm
Imagine 5 years ago somebody said to you that in 5 years time both Sunderland & Newcastle would have former Man United & Real Madrid managers respectively! On being told that you'd have expected us both to be pushing for a European place and not in the clarts that we both find ourselves in now!
Understand that but I'm sure Clark was one of about 2 that did OK, he's decent on the ball and has very good anticipation. He'd be very good for you I reckon.
Exactly and now Moyes seems to be happy to avoid relegation - not very encouraging for good players to come here or even remain here - a season of turmoil and physical battles to look forward - not good at moment unless we've got gems of the class of Beckham Giggs etc at Manu Moyes will bring them on if they're here .Our young uns
Gotta say I think that's absolute bollocks and most Premier League players will remember Moyes as a superb manager for Everton.
It makes me laugh all this, we have only just signed Kone and guess it's a longish term contract, so whilst not wanting an unhappy unsettled player in your team, what is the bull about it being a hard sell due to his agent, when the player is getting improved contract in recognition of 5 months work??
So that would be Fellaini for a start who Moyes has said unlikely to be here - I think quality premier players will be very wary of comming - the second rate players or those at end of careers may come . I'm as frustrated as we always seem to end up with this type of challenge - survival
Divhead is probably the best manager you've had! Definite upgrade on BSA for sure. Sunderland never had (for as long as I've liked football which is over 20 years) attracted the top talent. Divhead will bring in a better quality of player. He is higher profile than the club (like Rafa is to us). Be patient. There was always going to be a slow down in recruitment thank to the manager change. I can't see you going down with Divhead in charge regardless of signings or not. He is the perfect match for the club.
He did say, Premier League experience, not premier league based. This league has had many a fine player play here, many of which would rip somebodies arm off for another stab at it.
Lamine Kone likely to stay at Sunderland, but David Moyes expects future sales please log in to view this image Lamine Kone (left) 9HAVE YOUR SAY In-demand Lamine Kone IS expected to remain at Sunderland this summer, amidst reports that the Black Cats have offered the January signing a new contract. But David Moyes has not ruled out banking big bucks from one of Sunderland’s key players in future, if that money can be used to strengthen the side. Both Everton and Leicester have enquired about Kone this summer, with the Ivory Coast international understandably attracting attention with his performances from the final four months of last season. Despite talk of an £18million offer from Everton, it is understood that Kone is likely to remain at the Stadium of Light and reports today have suggested that he has been offered a new lucrative contract. However, Moyes believes there will come a time when he does look to cash-in on one of his prize assets, as he did during his decade at Everton. The Toffees banked huge fees from offloading the likes of Wayne Rooney and current Sunderland midfielder Jack Rodwell, yet that money was reinvested to improve the overall quality of the squad. Moyes said: “I’m always going to keep the best players, but I’m also going to move the club along. At different times things will have to change. “We had to sell Wayne Rooney, Mikel Arteta, Jack Rodwell, Joleon Lescott, but it didn’t affect the club, the club moved on. “I would never say that it won’t happen. But I want to keep the best players and build a team. The more important thing is us bringing players in and bringing in players who can get us away from the wrong end of the league.”
I don't think that has anything whatsoever to do with Moyes though, and that's what I'm disputing. That's to do with us being perennial relegation battlers prior to Moyes arrival. You said 'our manager is not an attraction', that's wrong, it's the club that's lacking appeal as it stands.
