Just had a text from a mate to say we're signing him. I know nowt else and I'm just nipping out so can't have a look to check. I'll be back later so I'll see what I can find out.
A right winger? We need @Safc83 to tell us something about him. I've never heard of him. I was hoping he was a striker mate. A striker has to be a priority at the minute. And a right back......
Reports saying his asking price would be £25m. Doubt we'd be signing anyone for that much let alone a winger when we've already got Khazri, Borini, Lens & Watmore.
Im confused. That link said he was Argentinian then said regards to a work permit that he hadnt been called up by the Brazillian squad!
Transfer deals do happen after contracts are signed. Little trick to get optimum transfer fee. I remember Thiago's new contract ran about a week then he was off to PSG. Does make it less likely though I agree to that much.
"In their Sunday edition, Diário de Notícias had an article talking about many Benfica players who could be leaving the club this summer, and Salvio was among them. They didn’t make much noise, but in a unpretentious paragraph, there it was: the Benfica president Luís Filipe Vieira was in London to talk to Sunderland, who are offering €25m for the winger." http://sportwitness.co.uk/sunderland-submit-e25m-offer-player-just-selling-club-want/?
Don't a lot of these figures quoted often include the gross cost of the transfer, salaries, bonuses, etc. If that were the case here, and the guy's offered a 4 year contract on say £50k pw, that would translate to about £11m transfer fee.
Is he any good? not a priority position: Lens, Watmore, Borini, Khazri, Insomnia..... we have plenty of wingers.
please log in to view this image Sunderland have offered Benfica €25m (£21.1m) for silky attacking midfielder Eduardo Salvio, according to reports from Diario de Noticias. The Black Cats have been quiet in the transfer market so far this summer, with the managerial merry-go-round at the club having somewhat put the buffers on incoming deals. It’s understood that club officials have held productive talks regarding the Argentine that have been followed by a bid. The mooted fee matches Benfica’s asking price, which could lead to Salvio becoming the Wearside club’s most expensive signing, surpassing the £13m they paid for Asamoah Gyan. The 26-year-old is a versatile attacking midfielder, able to play on either flank or in a central berth.
He's a very good, skilful player mate, beats men with ease and excellent delivery. I just wonder why we'd she'll that much for yet another right footed wide player.
I don't know, It frees up Khazri to play CAM, a position which is a priority and could be arguably Khazri's most productive position. I means these CAM stats really are top draw and there's a strong argument that we don't get the best out of him playing wide. He played wide for us out of necessity. More options could see him utilised better.
