Always amazes me that clubs (apart from Arsenal) bid exactly the release clause amount. Why don't the clubs who own that players rights sue the agent of the player for releasing that information?
According to SSN, Diame is having his medical tomorrow, looks like he's gone. So we're down to how many senior players?
Why, the kids will step in where needed, not saying it's a good thing putting them in the firing line, but maybe that's what's needed.
The kids are nowhere near good enough for the Championship, how are we expecting them to step up? They'll get slaughtered.
It's better than having a goalkeeper up front, unless we're in for bringing Fettis back to lead the line. As it stands we're not going to have much choice but to put the kids in, unless these ****wits realise what a **** situation we're in & do something about a manager & players. #AllamsOut
Some may have done ok at that level, we don't know as they never got a chance even when some starting players last season didn't look arsed.
I know he isn't, was responding to the comment we didn't give youngsters a go. Luer also started/played in League Cup ties against PL opposition.
OK, who are you going to sue? The player, his agent, the club agent, club secretary, chairman, manager, mates of the player.... You would never prove who leaked the information. And it's not unscrupulous, it's called research, some clubs are spot on with it. Simple solution is either to insert a ridiculously high value or no clause at all.
That's why the rule is so outdated. I think it should be reasonable to be able to approach the player and/or agent even while a player is under contract.
Exactly. As with most things the FA and similar organisations bring in to create "fair play", there will always be a way around it. Make everything open with less restictions would cut down on dodgy dealings.
It's pretty simple, if you bid less than the release clause, the club will hold out for more, and clubs are generally going to lowball. Fairly sure Moyes ended up bidding more than Fellaini's release, or he waited too long and Baines' release no longer counted (I might be muddled up on that), but clearly clubs are going to have a good idea of release clauses.
Newcastle medical for Diame Hull's Mohamed Diame will have a medical at Newcastle for his proposed move later today http://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/10519963/newcastle-medical-for-diame?
So clubs who played by the rules would enter a series of low bids incrementally increasing until the release clause was triggered? That is incredibly inefficient. It's also a waste of time if the player and potential buying club can't indicate some ballpark agreement on terms. Being able to talk to the player first is much more sensible.
