Think will be a very close game, hoping we can just edge it. Hope the saints do well tho after this weekend.
Yes we have some train stoppers too. if he gets through the midfield I think Fonte can derail him. You are a little mis informed about our CB's. Yes we have a weakness he is our man mountain Jaidi slow but experienced enough to stop most. He really has stopped a few steam trains in his day.........
Howson is too quick. He's like a winger skillwise and speedwise, except he plays down the middle in the pocket behind the attack. Our attack takes a swarm strategy. Too many players doing too much and most defenses, regardless of how good they are, can't handle it. Even Arsenal had trouble. We have additional players to mix it up as well this season, I'm expecting to see a lot more of Lloyd Sam (quality player whom we didn't see enough of last season), and with any luck we'll sign Alex Mendy. I'll go with the theme many others in this thread have gone with - underestimate Howson at your peril. He will make a mockery of your defense given the opportunity and it only takes a second.
my tip is leeds 3-1, although im gonna be biased i think we have the better team and have tightened up the defence massively
i also reckon snoddy will beat your fullbacks at every given opportunity, howson will cause too many problems like he did against newcastle. We've got a very good attack, this is the reason we were top goalscorers for pretty much the whole season last year.
Well when I last saw Snodgrass and Howson at St Marys they were very average to say the least. If Kisnorbo puts in the same kind of performance though and you have the ref on your side like last time then you might have a chance
its bound to be a great match. i think midfield will be key, if they have an off day then we will lose, however if lallana, cork, schneiderlin/hammond and chambo/de ridder perform i think we have a great chance for the win
snodgrass has been ripping this league apart as well as howson, howson has improved massively for and is our best player, if he performs i see it as a leeds win really. As simple as that but thats not to say i am underestimating you guys, i think you do have a good attack, the defense looks quite weak but that reminds me of leeds last year. I think you guys are generally underestimating this league
All I hope for is a nice game of football, preferably total football played by both teams and a cracking atmosphere and saints to win of course!hehe
no obviously not, but at this level howson is very good at this level, he made joey barton look like a bit of an idiot against newcastle. now admittedly thats only pre-season but he did it all last season as well. When he has good games leeds have good games.
Both sides have players capable of ripping up defences when they're on form. I know I'm not underestimating this league, as no game is a gimme, but we also have a decent chance of winning any given match. Leeds are a side that should be right up there come the end of the season, so it's a great test first up to see where we're at. Hoping for a good game, good banter between the fans, and a Saints win (but good luck to Leeds for the 44 games they're not playing us)!
Howson is quality. I'm also surprised there have been no big moves for Snodgrass from Premier League sides.
I think it's gonna be a tough game for saints & a bit of a reality check. Yes we looked good last season, but as has been noted here, there is now a notable step up in opposition for every single game. We contrived to lose to some pretty average league one sides last season- swindon, tranmere, walsall...- any such mistakes will be punished heavily at this level; one at which this current team as a unit is unproven at. Leeds have got a very good, consistent squad & have proven they have the ability to challenge for the play-offs. They have some dangerous attacking talent & I think the majority of saints fans will concede that defence is not our strongest point. I agree with the predictions of some of their posts that we will take time to settle into our stride & I just feel this game might be a bit early for us. I'd settle for a draw. But remember, this time last season we lost 1-0 at home to Plymouth in front of the sky cameras & went on to much better things!
Right then..... just booked my appointment for 10am Monday morning with my Leeds supporting customer in Leeds!! Now that could be a tricky business meeting depending on the result!
