If Lukaku is valued at £75m by Everton (they apparently turned down £57m from Chelsea ), then Pogba 's £100m is not that bad after all. I wish the crap surrounding the agents fee is sorted. I cannot see how his work in the last few weeks is worth £20m. If he gets £2m, he should be grateful.
Lukaku's going rate doesn't justify £100m for Pogba. In my opinion, it confirms how ridiculous the market has become. Reminds me of the Italian league a while ago when they all went spending crazy.
This. Lukaku is worth about what we sold him to Everton for imo, which is around £30m. That, unfortunately, seems to be the going rate for a 1 in 2 striker these days. £68m is completely batshit. £100m for Pogba is lolworthy. Thing is, I just wish all this stuff would just happen and the prices and fees not get reported. Football becomes more ridiculous as time goes by. I certainly am not going to go to any more games if it carries on like this. The players wages and agent fees are becoming ******ed, and the cost of all this is being put squarely on the fans. People need to start speaking with their wallets. Idiot fans who go to games with banners and protest make me laugh.....you think they care about your ****ty banner mate? You have already paid to get in, they dont give a solitary **** what your banner says
Absolutely agree - I do struggle to understand why people pay to get into a football ground so they can protest about the cost of getting into a football ground! Problem is of course the limited capacity - even if you aren't willing to pay there is guaranteed to be some muppet out there who is willing, probably someone who started supporting the team last week. Although in fairness the latest rises aren't driven as much by ticket prices as by TV money. Sky are finally being forced to pay most of the £3bn they earn each year from selling live football to the clubs. Unfortunately, that money only goes one way - transfer fees and wages. It then gets further exaggerated by the amount companies are willing to pay to be associated with a big club. I've said it before - what did people expect would happen when we double our shirt revenue, treble the kit revenue and get more to sponsor our training ground than some clubs get to sponsor their shirt and stadium? All that money's gonna go somewhere.
Perhaps I'm mistaken but I don't think agent's fees have previously been factored in when the press have reported on the cost of a transfer. Bale went for £86mish but that was the transfer fee. I don't recall the agent's fee being mentioned when the deal was reported.
I seem to recall a report being published at the end of last season (not sure if it was the PL or the individual clubs) but it highlighted the fees being paid to agents by each club. It follows that clubs have been paying agents fees for some time and at a sufficient level to warrant an annual report and it highlighted how some clubs (and not the biggest) were paying tens of millions annually to these parasites. The only reason so much is being made of the agent's fee in the Pogba transfer is the sheer size of it.
How does this **** get leaked is the pertinent issue? Someone there is making a few bucks on the side leaking this info to the press.
Juve will be leaking this one as they, understandably, will want it known that they have accepted the transfer fee so aren't being completely unreasonable.
Problem with this one is that the agent's fee is effectively a selling on fee. Usually the agent gets a percentage of the player's wages and a nominal percentage of the transfer fee, which I think happened with Bale. Real probably paid a few mill to Bale's agent directly, and the agent also gets a cut of his wages as long as his contract runs. In this case, Juve have stupidly agreed to give 20% of any future transfer to the player's agent (probably a big factor in Raiola pushing Pogba out the door at Utd). Utd obviously think this is nothing to do with them and is equivalent to Everton having to pay 15% of any fee they get for Stones to Barnsley, or Leicester having to pay 25% of a fee for Vardy to Fleetwood. Juve disagree and want Utd to cover this fee as well.
Thats just stupid though, its Juve who put that clause in his contract, not United or anyone elses fault that they agreed to pay the agent 20% of the transfer fee. Even if they did agree that, if United paid £100m for Pogba, they are still getting £80m for him! Which is an awesome fee for a player they got for free.
Anyone that isn't infuriated by Pogba's antics throughout this transfer needs a reality check. The whole "party across the US" when you know the world media is right on you because of this transfer is quite frankly a kick in the teeth of fans. There is now complete lack of respect for how these insane money that they earn came to be. And I get it! You're young, you want to show off, because you're partly an idiot. But they go about it the wrong way. It has become all too obvious lately. Don't get me wrong, I want Pogba in our team without a doubt. But I completely hate this saga and the shenanigans that I have witnessed by agents and footballers.
FFS - have we bought him yet or not.....................How difficult is all this, other clubs seem to manage to buy a player in less than six months so why does it always take us so long. 'We want your player xxxxxx' - 'Ok, that'll be £100million' 'Cash or debit card' ....contract signed - done. Move over Woody.
In fairness it's easy to say **** like this when it isn't your money being banded about. As well as the Transfer fee you have to work out the Agent's fee, negotiate a contract with Salary, bonuses and other such clauses. If the Agent or player do not accept the first offer then it all has to go back to the drawing board. By all accounts, as you know, Juve signed Pogba with a clause that his agent gets 20% of his transfer fee when they eventually sell him on. Juve are pricing him at £100m, which means they have to give 20% of this to Pogba's agent. Juve are trying to convince Man United to take care of the agents fee IN ADDITION to paying £100m for the player, so in essence United will be paying £120m for him. And, rightfully so, in my opinion, United are telling Juve to go **** themselves. This, as far as I understand, is the stumbling block.
I know, I know. These things are complicated, plus I forgot to include 'did you want cashback' - looks like I have to leave it to Woody, far too complicated for me.
