Bike night last night - few one of us went to Cadwell Park to watch the early BSB practicing ...... Shakey put on a bit of a show as he came over the mountain on his penultimate lap. Not my pic btw.
My first two brand new bikes where the Yamaha FS1E and the smaller version of this a Honda CB 200 Green. Nice little bike never let me down. I see em for sale at a hefty price now wish I had kept it.
I had an early CB200 as a work bike - it was as bomb-proof as anything I've ever owned, I stripped it down after owning it a few years and couldn't be arsed to put it back together, sold it in boxes for next to nowt!
Tell me about it QT! If I'd kept those early Japanese classics that I'd owned in my ''young, single and loads of money'' days I'd be laughing all the way to the bank.
I don't think Honda made a bad bike back in those days, don't know about today as I'm not very well up on present day machines, but I remember many a biker moaning about the Honda Gold Wind when it first came out, not a proper bike, an armchair on wheels, that kind of thing. Saw some good riders in those day, amongst them Barry Sheene, don't think he ever rode for Honda though.
Most of my mates has 2 strokes Yamaha, Suzuki etc .. Honda Goldwing was a lump. Sheene was Suzuki 500cc. I think he had a short time with Yamaha. Died to young. 52. I met Cal Crutchlow a few times while him and Craig Jones rode for Northpoint Honda and Nokia. Sadly Craig Jones lost his life at Brands Hatch in 2008. Sorry for rabbiting on a bit.
Had a skim through this thread and saw too many ****ing scooters on the first page. Did it get any better?
I ****ing hate 'em. It's the Mod thing. Fashion statements for preening types who show far too much interest in shoes, hair and nicely-pressed trousers. And **** music.
I used to have one, an Li 125. I'm too old for it now. A mod? Well I do like to dress well and keep myself nice
No, no it didn't. Scooters are not motobikes. They're mopeds ffs. I don't mind them, but it's rude to start elbowing your way into a thread about motorbikes to talk about mopeds. Typical of the type I guess, they're like vegans. How do you know if someone's got a scooter? Don't worry, they'll ****ing tell ya.
It's not very often I find myself rising to my feet to applaud one of your posts Happy, but this is one of those rare occasions!
Mine looked even more embarrassing on account of the fact that it had a big black topbox that I couldn't remove, no matter how ****ing hard I tried!
My first 'full-sized' bike. Yeah, I know, it's a Super(wet)Dream, but suddenly being able to embark on rides of a couple of hundred miles, instead of up to Hornsea and back, was just great.
