ive got a samsung galaxy J500fn here thats stuck on the samsung logo screen and wont boot up.

So i done a bit of reading about why and came to the conclusion that..

When i start the phone in recovery mode (Vol up+home+power buttons) it goes to the TWRP App, not the samsung stock recovery screen... so the previous user must have played about with it?

And when i try to reboot the phone from the TWRP app it says there is no OS installed, which i think means a custom/Stock Rom is needed to fire it up again?

so i looked on the sd card and there is a Custom rom file.... but when i try to install it using TWRP there doesnt seem to be a way to actually install the thing <laugh> meaning i go to install>SDcard>CustomRom> then theres a button that says instal zip, but when i press it it just switches to > install image

    so like wtf?

    anyone please

This is a common problem with the j500fn. This particular model is designed to be fixed by taking a hammer to it and hitting it very hard several times.

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/rom-stock-rom-advanced-t3305976

Try the above link it should work fine that way, dowload the rom from there and see if that version works. I think it will as it has done so in the past.

Thats the exact guide i followed when looking for a fix <laugh> and im stuck on step 11, when i try to install (using twrp) i can find the rom on the Sd but when i press the install button it just changes *the actual button* from "install zip" to "install image"

ive looked and there doesnt seem to be a back-up of the original samsung stock rom installed on TWRP or the sd or the internal memory, im no expert at this **** but that dont seem right? so ive since downloaded the stock rom and put that onto the sd (using a card reader) and i cant install it using twrp, or odin with the phone in download mode and connected via usb.

you know anything about Gapps? that seems to be the only thing i aint tried, ive had a look but my brains fried at the mo reading all this **** <laugh>

to the people reading this thinking "what the **** is he on about" This is what ive been looking at for 4+hours and the stuff ive been looking at has bigger words, some with 14 syllables.

    help

Answer? Anyone who understands wtf it is about, should be confined to a padded room and have Susan Boyle dancing naked for them and sing at the same time.

I am a self confessed Luddite. I can't stand technology especially phones.

    Texts
    Calls
    Snake
    Alarm clock.
plus with these old phones you can hide an extra SIM card when you open the back of it and lid goes back on perfectly. (For pussy on the side)

Don't need a phone for anything else.
