"Marseille are understood to be paying Gomis' full salary for the duration of the loan". Doesn't sound very convincing to be honest, but at least the nugget has gone..........
Well let's hope he's really successful there, the nugget is due back next year, we maybe then have a player we can sell on.
As long as it isn't Ayew or Siggy without replacement in fine with him going. He needs some senior experience and 6 months will do him good. Hopefully can come back in form like Barrow
Because we now have no strikers, and Ayew leaving is a big possibility. We seem more interested in kicking strikers out than bringing them in, and the ones we are linked with are either old or 4th choice at the current club.
Good for him, it means he'll get experience that he needs. It also means we are about to sign someone imo, the reasoning is we wouldn't be loaning out players otherwise. As for yanks, make sure they are smaller than you
I'll use my bat if needs be I'd have preferred him stay here tbh, played the cup games and get a few PL run outs. As it stands, we now need AT LEAST 2 strikers.
But he's not a striker ,Ayew leaving as with all our other" big" names are always of risk of leaving, imo it looks like we're reducing the wage bill to accommodate a player or two , 4th or thereabouts choice strikers will always be the market place we shop in I'm afraid .
PL winners ? . it doesn't look as if we're in for anyone but I doubt very much that's the case , imo I believe it's a case of moving players around and reviewing the monies available , we're now owned by a some who have a lot of money" invested" in the club and have more to lose than Jenks and co who have more than tripled their initial monies and made a tidy living from the Club.
Fluke I'm all for moving big wage earners off our book to accommodate a quality striker or two, but the names linked with us are not that good that they would command Gomis and Ayews wages etc. If now, we can use the freed weekly wages from Gomis and Eder/Palo to bring in a top striker of Bonys calibre then fair enough, but I doubt we'll sign a striker that's as good as he is.
That's eight out on loan now , ten if you add Eder and Paloschi . Huw did say we would need to ship some out before we got anyone in. Still waiting and not holding my breath.
Will we have anyone left to play in these u23 cups we are in. I have no problem players going out on loan as long as they end up getting game time and gaining experience from the loan deal. I am sure we will bring in a couple of strikers valley, what standard is my worry.
Bet we are still paying Gomis his signing on fee - which is supposedly spread over the length of his contract.....
just look who's left us , players who really wouldn't have been a great loss or guaranteed a place in the match team squad , players linked very rarely sign in any case .
I'd agree, but we are now 2 weeks away from the new season and we have no strikers in our side. We've got sold/loaned our 3 strikers and look no closer to any replacements, all of which are either past their prime or 4th choice at other clubs. We also look like we are on the verge of losing Ayew. Our squad, regardless of the do kids we've just got rid of, is now far weaker than it was at the end of the season, and if Ayew leaves, we'll be among the favourites to go down because I don't trust Huw and these Yanks to buy the necessary quality firepower that we need.
I find it hard to believe that the club knew we needed strikers before the end of last season - and here we are with still no clear direction on who to go and get. Another thing - with the crazy money that's being spent - how come Ayew is being linked with a £16M move to West Ham. Sixteen ****ing Million - whereas Mahrez is linked with Arsenal for £37 Million - more than double the cost of Ayew. Are we set to be pushovers again ?
That's what bugs me, how do the likes of Southampton get silly money for players, and we get half the value other clubs would get.
