Good Morning (and happy thoughts) to all

The home kit has been launched, and all I can say is..........

    BRAVOOOOOOO....

Don't know why LUFC did not pick the Not606ers to show off the kit. I'm sure we would have done an equally good job.

Hal Robson-Kanu who could not get in the Reading squad is in talks with Atletico Madrid about a move!!!

LUFC Chief Executive Ben Mansford wants to reassure fans that the club remained in talks with transfer targets and were confident of adding players to their squad before the start of the Championship season.

“Garry knows where he’d like to go and he’s got support to add players to complement the group,” Mansford told the YEP.

“They’re identified, we’re in talks with them and I hope they land.

“If they don’t then we’ll move forward and we’ll get there but even now, with the league a week from kicking off, there are still a lot of clubs looking like they’ve got lots of business to do.

“We’ve got to keep out counsel and do our business quietly because we’re in a competitive market. But I do believe we’ll add and I do believe we’ll add quality between now and the start of the season.”

Morning all, I really like the new kit.

Mansford said the other days that "it is fair to say, Cellino has his own contacts/list" he also said Monk is challenging them to do better....

Putting two and two together this sounds like a reference to the two RB's that Monk turned down. While a major worry that Cellino is picking transfer targets it is nice to assume Monk is standing up to Cellino on players he doesn't want.

If this lasts we shall have to wait and see.

I also read that Monk strongly favours 4-2-3-1 and that Roofe doesn't mind where he plays as long as he is in the starting 11 and he has been used as a wide player preseason.

I would imagine this is why we are chasing Bridcutt to play alongside Diacouraga as the 2 defensive midfield players. If Monk is planning a 4-2-3-1 then would you imagine the 3 to be Antonsson, Roofe, Sako or would Mowatt and Dallas feature?

In theory with the players we have this would be a very versatile formation...

Morning ristac, without a doubt, bet kit in years, personally, I would have preferred the greenpeace sponsorship that the jnrs have over 32 red, but it must be said, best kit in years.

Our structure is still taking shape.

Its been less than a month since Clotet and Beattie have joined. Very much hoping they put a scouting system in place.

We need to tighten our defense, so have two dm in Dave and Bridcutt (still expected to happen), yes agree with you there.

Big question is, is there space for Wood?

Unless I am missing something and players are much improved on last term 4-2-3-1 will turn into 4-5-1 because our midfield was overrun countless times last year!

Dallas is a waste of a wage as far as I am concerned. Produces **** all.

Wood will be the man up front if we go 4-2-3-1 - I have a feeling Roofe or Antonsson will be on the bench along with Dallas.... Sako, Mowatt and one of Roofe/Antonsson in the 3.... Lots of positive noises being made about Mowatt so I believe he will be starting.

If I'm right at least the bench will have some game changers sitting on it for a change.

    Forgot we also have Grimes...

We may start of with 4-2-3-1 but I got a funny feeling he'll eventually revert back to 4-4-2 or 4-1-3-2, we've had no luck with a single striker, and I agree with you Ristac, does depend who he puts where; and we could end up with 4-2-4 if the new lads are eager to impress.

We may have the players now to make 4-2-3-1 work, but I'm not that confident at moment till I see it working for the better.

Here's hoping it works, but here's also hoping he's not a Redders and persists with a single striker when it ain't doing us no good......:emoticon-0148-yes:

In the last 2 pics of the new kit, does it look like Wood is carrying an extra barrel around his midriff.

Just putting 2+2 together but probably coming up with 5 ;) <ok>

If Antonsson and Roofe are either part of a 3 or on the bench at least we have options to go 4-4-2 If Wood is having a stinker we can replace him with Dallas and still go 4-4-2 or stick to 4-2-3-1

Monk is going to go with what worked best for him at Swansea, our urgency to sign Bridcutt when we have Diacouraga, Grimes, Mowatt, Dallas, Murphy, Sako, Phillips, Botaka doesn't make sense if we are planning 4-4-2 so surely it has to be 4-2-3-1

Heard a rumour or just an opinion?

Mowatt will never be good enough imo. If he starts it will only be a matter of time before he starts getting subbed. He can't produce for the full ninety. As for Roofe i think he will defo be in the team, he's been one of our better players in pre season.
I think I prefer the away kit this year, never have liked football shirts with collars.

Morning all. Chippy, how do you know Mowatt won't be here? Where's your evidence?
On the kit, might just fork out a couple of pennies for that. Anyone know if you can buy the shirt without 32 red all over it?
On the squad, think we have more options than last year. As such, it will take Monk a while to work out his best formation, and it might come down to us being home or away and the strength of the opposition. Time will tell

Not sure I agree Forza. Difference this season is that he has genuine competition for his winger spot. Having seen a couple of the friendlies, Dallas has a lot of catching up to do as he returned to training late due to the Euros.

Dallas isn't very good even when he's matchfit, too lightweight and ineffective

Just my opinion though Boggers

Fair enough. He did get into the NI team for the Euros though. So he can't be that bad

Opinion based on the fact he is not keen to resign the deal in front of him.

Every time you ask for evidence I cant produce any (sometimes because its coming from inside the club), but time proves I was right.... Just wait and see.
