It does still leave 3 weeks in the transfer window to be fair.

If we're playing a diamond, Dost makes even less sense. There might not be another player in Europe more reliant on balls played in from wide areas.

We are looking more then two players, as well as more youth. For the time being I am calm.

I emailed Claude this morning and told him to **** off this idea of getting this right back that we don't even need.

Yeah our scouts have been spotted at numerous clubs and we were linked heavily with Boufal, so it looks like we are looking for an attacking player.

I'm quite excited for these youth signings too, it works for me in football manager so naturally it will work in real life.

I see it as bridging the gap. So we have a conveyor belt of players ready to step up. Which is a good thing, means we can develop young talent the way we want.

Yeah. It's the area where I think that we ought to have pursued more in recent years: buying players abroad or from the Football League who are a couple years from being ready, because there's good value to get had there. I'd be quite happy if we dedicated ~10m to getting a handful of talented young lottery tickets.

I can see it being over £10m tbh. £3m on just Bastian.

Yeah the only issue on football manager is that you get to a point where there is no point in signing anyone as your youth team is packed with young players to step up so the game gets quite boring. Imagine a summer where Saints just promoted players from the youth to the first team to address any needs and didnt sign anyone. The meltdown would cause the sea level to rise.

Even better. £10m sounded like 3-4 fairly well-regarded kiddies who hadn't broken through to me, which would be nice. If we're going for more desirable (and more expensive) kids, or more of them, that's music to my ears.

Has Bastian signed yet, or due real soon?

Any ideas regarding how long they think he will be till first team? At 19 or so you would hope 2 years maybe 3 max...

I know what you mean, at the moment I have around 130 players under contract in my Shamrock Rovers (champions league winners five times in a row, by the way) save. :D

Everton are still likely to make some good, major signings, plenty of time for them.

Personally I couldn't give a **** if they sign Messi or Missy Elliott, means nothing to me.

So get your freak on, Ron.

There was a decent tactics piece which I think was posted on saints stuff, which showed how the formation we've used in the opening friendlies mirrored Nice last season and is more famously implemented by Barcelona.

The tip of the diamond is more like a false 9 role a la Messi and the two other attackers in Neymar & Suarez would act almost like inside forwards.
So the formation is really a 4-3-3 as opposed to a 4-4-2 Diamond which we played in the championship, because the player at the tip of the diamond is often the most advanced player.

In the two friendlies Redmond and then Tadic last night took on the false 9 role
