There are 95 changes to the laws of the game for the coming season. Here are some of the main ones. The kick-off restart can now go backwards It will now be possible to get a red card before the match starts An end to the 'triple-punishment law' (players committing accidental fouls that deny goal-scoring opportunities in the penalty area will not be automatically sent off) Players will be able to receive treatment quickly on the pitch if they are injured in a challenge that results in a yellow or red card Assistant referees or fourth officials will be able to check players before they return to the pitch Feinting once the run-up is complete will result in a yellow card for the taker If play is stopped due to interference from a team official or substitute, rather than the award of an indirect free-kick or drop ball, the referee will now award a free-kick or penalty kick to the opposition. Undershorts/tights must be the same colour as the main colour of the shorts or the lowest part of the shorts. Undershirts must still be the same colour as the main colour of the shirt sleeve. A couple of minor clarifications to the offside rule. The law now states the halfway line is neutral, meaning a player must have part of the body (excluding arms or hands) in the opponents' half to be flagged offside and a free-kick resulting from an offside will now always take place where the offence is committed. Handball is now a yellow card offence when "it stops/interferes with a promising attack". Preventing an opponent gaining possession has been removed from the list of bookable offences. When taking a corner, the ball must clearly move. Just make sure you take the rule book with you and check before starting to abuse the Ref.
I assume that "Assistant referees or fourth officials will be able to check players before they return to the pitch", means that they will have to show passports and visas.
"Undershorts/tights must be the same colour as the main colour of the shorts or the lowest part of the shorts". That's a relief. I'm sure the modern player is relieved not to have to choose the colour of his tights! What about the gloves though? Oh, and the eye shadow of course
Re the feinting - does that refer to penalty kicks or all free kicks? Re the corner - I'm having a hard time working out how a corner can be taken without the ball moving, clearly or otherwise...

One question that I have, and wonder if anyone can help? It is in reference to th 4th substitute allowed in extra time for FA cup ties... If a team is reduced to 10 men during normal time due to an injury(having already used the 3 permitted subs). Can they simply bring on the 4th sub as soon as extra time starts to take the team back to 11 players?
That's not a substitute, that is putting on an extra player. Once down to ten, you stay down to ten at best
Ah, but if a player goes off injured, and is not replaced by a substitute, don't they have the right to come back on to the pitch following treatment (however long that may take)? Therefore in my example above the injured player (who hasn't yet been substituted) could come back onto the pitch for extra time and then be replaced
It'll be interesting to see who's the first to get a red card before the match starts. Do they have to be in the tunnel, at the ground or perhaps using foul and abusive language on the way there?
I missed the key term in your original post. My bad. Silly old sod I am at times. The answer is that a substitution is only complete when the substitute is on after the replacement player has already left the field. I've made substitutes wait some time before they were allowed on usually because they had jewellery on.
