The Hull City Supporters Trust – at war with the promoted Yorkshire side over their refusal to offer concessionary prices to children or OAPs - believe the club are ‘vindictively’ refusing to use the words ‘Hull City’ after owner Assem Allam failed in a bid to change its name to Hull Tigers. Supporters reeling from Friday’s resignation of manager Steve Bruce three weeks before their return to the top flight have received pages of correspondence relating to the club’s membership scheme which include no mention of the words ‘Hull City’. Trust chairman Geoff Bielby said: “Ever since the Allam family lost their battle over the name change , they have treated the word ‘City’ like the worst-possible four-letter word beginning with C. “Many supporters believe it is another example of the club acting vindictively towards us. “One slogan heralding the club’s return to the Premier League says ‘We’re Back!’, with no mention of who are back. please log in to view this image Hull City Hull changed their badge (left) in 2014, to the version on the right... please log in to view this image ...there's no mention of 'Hull' or 'City' in the pack about the fan membership scheme... please log in to view this image ...even this letter only refers to 'the Club', apart from the email and website addresses at the bottom "There’s a club badge but the words ‘Hull City’ were removed from that two years ago. "It’s the same in marketing and billboards.” Hull are flouting Premier League rules by refusing to offer concessionary tickets to kids and pensioners – an issue likely to see them face disciplinary action. The club are offering lower prices for many fans - with £9 admission for the cheapest seats at the least glamorous fixtures - but the lack of concessions is an issue which stunned supporters’ representatives from all clubs at a recent meeting with Premier League executive chairman Richard Scudamore. please log in to view this image Getty Assem Allam's attempt to officially change the club name was blocked by the FA And Bielby said: “Some of the ticket pricing is to be applauded but a lack of concessions is a dangerous precedent. “The pensioner who sat next to me has seen his current seat near the halfway line increase from £289 to £486. He could get a cheaper one elsewhere but says he won’t sit in the corner like a naughty schoolboy when he has supported the club for 60 years. “And for many of us, during the club’s successful recent period, it has been a matter of great pride that kids around here are wearing Hull City shirts rather than those of Manchester United or Liverpool. please log in to view this image PA Wire Fans protested during managerless Hull's Tuesday night friendly away to Barnsley "Now the club are pricing out the supporters of tomorrow.” On the club refusing to use its own name, a club spokesman said: “This point has been contentious because of our owners’ attempts to change the name of the club in the past. Steve Bruce explains his decision to walk away in open letter to Hull fans “Our new prices start at just £9, the best value in the League, and we have also added a period of time for concessions to get access to cheaper tickets before general sale. “All adults make huge savings so it makes sense to offer cheaper tickets to children, seniors, families and other groups such as people in unemployment, students and supporters who may have previously not been able to afford to come.” Good to see this making national news...
Well done to all involved....some decent coverage at last..... http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/hull-city-club-no-name-8506550
Typical mirror sh1t. Hull is mentioned 4 times and City 3 times? Further no mention that "The Tigers" has also been removed from the badge. Did not bother to read beyond the first 3 lies. No I am not an Allam supporter just the constant bull ...... like this does not move us on.
I haven't seen it, but does it actually say 'Hull City', or does it say 'Hull City Tigers', I understood the term 'Hull City' appears nowhere?
The REAL badge and the ALLAM badge are shown side-by-side. It's obvious what they've done to the badge...
"At the time many fans commented that they would be happy to accept the club being marketed as the Tigers as long as the playing name did not change. We feel the Tigers brand is powerful and use it for marketing purposes whilst the playing name remains Hull City.” Mooney's always claiming this, he seems to think if he repeats it often enough, it will become a fact. It won't James, refusing to use the club's name is unjustifiable, in marketing terms it's utterly moronic.
I think it was mentioned on CI in the early days of CTWD that some supporters had no objection to the club marketing our nickname. Nash comes to mind and a few others. Unfortunately all that stuff has been lost due to numerous computer crashes.
There's a massive difference in marketing the nickname, and refusing to use the actual name on anything at all! I've no problem with them using 'The Tigers' in marketing, but that doesn't mean they should also stop also using 'Hull City' And as for the abomination that is 'Hull City Tigers' !
They have taken stuff we have said and then taken it to a ridiculous extreme. Something I've been unjustly, in my view, accused of in the past. What we want is a balance between the two. The use of both our name and our nickname.
This piece deserves immortalising in song really I'll give it a first shot, but there's far better people on here to actually do it "Back in the Premier it's the club with no name It feels good, but not with out pain We're Hull City, so remember our name Even though the Allams won't use it again Na na na na na na etc" ...repeat
Hey I can play this on guitar! Great to see we are getting national exposure finally, but why the references to 'Hull' rather than Hull City? Absolutely no problem with the use fo Tigers as a nickname, we were once proud of that. The name change ****e has sadly clouded that for many.
