With the confirmation of Muntari and Sessegnon at any minute, lets assume we have a fully fit squad (I mean everyone) how do we fit them all in ?, what will be your prefered system ?
IMO ------------------ Gordon -------------------- Onuoha - Bramble - Mensah - Richardson -------- Cattermole - Muntari -------------- Henderson -- Sessegnon ---- Welbeck -- ------------------- Gyan --------------------- thats actually a canny impressive side
------------------------------- Gordon --------------------------------- -----Onuoha - Bramble - Mensah - Turner-Anton - Bardo-------- --------------------- Cattermole - Muntari -------------- Elmo--Henderson -- Sessegnon --Steed--Richardson-- Welbeck -------------------------------- Gyan ----------------------------------- Piecea piss
Impressive? That's awesome. However, no Muntari against Chelsea and no Welbeck for a while. So, Steed and El Mahamedy instead? Oh Christ, I forgot Bardsley? This is harder than I thought...
Not having a pop mate but this is small club mentality at work. Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal, Spurs none of them sign another good player and ask how they will fit into the side because it is not about the first XI but about the squad. Bruce has been quietly going about his business these last two years and is now putting together a very good young squad that can compete at the higher end of the league. Not every player will play every game but every player will know they have a role to play in the campaign and this is especially the case if we can keep up our standards of the season so far and qualify for the Europa league.
You may be right about the nature of squad football these days Mackeminexile, but eleven men start on the pitch. For as long as I remember, I've headed to the ground anticipating the starting line-up. Plus it's more fun to choose our strongest eleven.
Well on average a pro footballer is 5' 9- 5'10... I say average. So that should make the majority a large size shirt at least. That should fit.
--------------------Gordon-------------------- Onuoha-----Titus--------Turner-----Bardo --------------Catts-------Muntari------------ Henderson------Welbeck-------Sessegnon ---------------------Gyan---------------------- For Chelsea (without Muntari + Welbeck) ----------------Gordon--------------- Onuoha---Titus-----Anton---Bardo ----------Catts------Hendo---------- Elmo-----------Sess------------Steed ----------------Gyan-------------------
I think Richardson will make way in the near future, and there's no way he would get in the defence in front of Bardsley.
I totally agree. I love Bardo's toughness and commitment. IIRC only Blackpool's Phillips, of all the PL right side players, caused him any problem this season. The Salford Boy has done very well apart from v NUFC for some daft reason although he was probably the only player to return from SJP with any credit. The team needs its fighters as well as the silky skills merchants and Bardo is a fighter with a capital F. From what I have read, Sess plays best at RM, which means that Elmo may have to drop to the bench. That's also Hendo's most effective position IMO. A CM with Hendo is a weak MF IMO.
Mackeminexile Great post. Fully agree, squad not team, I just wish more people would understand this.
=======Gordon========= Halford Nos Mcshane Collins Edwards Whitehead Leadbitter Richardson Murphy Chopra How times have changed. In 2007 we were happy with that team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
