Hmmm...sell two players and replace them with two players who look better but might end up not fitting in at all and have to be sold after we tread water for another couple of years. I say again, you do know we aren't managed by Benitez, right?
These 2 players... Are they the 2 old blokes called Micheal and Bastian? What use are they going to be to Jose next season other than slicing oranges and carry water. Perhaps occasionally coming on to steady the ship. Surely getting Kante and Matuidi in would be excellent for the squad. But don't let the Pogba Love cloud your judgement Swarbs
You could have (should have) jumped in a stole the deal. He would have gone to Utd me thinks... Obviously all hypothetical but the point stands about getting quality for far less.
It makes your point irrelevant, not hypothetical, as we can't sign both Kante and Matuidi. Even then, why would we want both? We could, however, buy Matuidi and Mahrez for instance instead of Pogba.
I've seen it. He's signed for Chelsea so why keep suggesting we can buy him and Matuidi, use another player who is actually available to make your point for **** sake.
Matuidi impressed during the Euros. He was strong on the ball, tackled well and is a big, powerful presence in midfield, something we have been lacking for years. Whatever Pogba offers beyond that I don't know, but you have to question how much more he can offer for the extra £70m (plus). This whole saga has reached a farcical point, either the player wants to come or he doesn't and I think we should just walk away and send the message that we won't be fu**ed around by any player or agent. If RM want to come in and 'steal' the deal then so be it. At the present moment I'm beginning to think the negative press and the baggage that will come with this deal simply aren't outweighed by what the player himself can offer on the pitch. It's not like its Messi or something where we know for sure what we're getting - £100million for Pogba is, in part, buying into the hype but mostly a case of us capitalising on his 'superstar' potential.
I was replying to Swarbs about buying 2 DM's when you have 2 already. Kante's name was mentioned purely because I bought it up in post #458. This Pogba deal seems to be getting people a bit tense ffs
I'm cool about it, I genuinely couldn't give a **** if he signs for us or not. I've made that fairly clear on this thread. I'm ok with the transfer fee, it's ridiculous but then if we extrapolate that across the board to all players who are currently moving about based on their cost in relation to their ability then he is 'worth' it. I am disgusted by the idea his agent gets paid £25 million though and as a result we should not sign him if that is the sticking point. **** them both. Vile, greedy ****s.
No they aren't. I'm talking about Schneiderlin with Carrick as a backup - I doubt we will play more than one DM in a match this season because, for the third time, not managed by Benitez And yes, I am well aware Schneiderlin didn't set the league alight last year, along with most of our squad. But, to repeat myself again, I don't see the point of replacing one player with an older player in a similar position, who might turn out to be a flop in the PL. Nor do I see the point in improving the squad when we have a real chance to improve the first team and give it an extra dimension. If we sign Matuidi I will be very happy, even if he is 29 and PSG seem happy enough to let him leave. But I would still rather we signed a more dynamic midfielder with a better goal scoring record, and despite all the names you are bandying around, I haven't yet seen you propose a better (does not equal cheaper) option in that area.
Agree with that. Takes the piss that Juve willingly signed a contract that agreed that his agent would receive 20% of any future transfer fee, and are now refusing to pay that proportion and instead trying to stick it on top of the overall fee. As I said before, it would be quite funny if the whole thing fell through, now Pogba, his agent and Juve appear to have burnt all their bridges. Shades of Berahino on a massively larger stage...
I did three ****s yesterday. Back to my usual diet after three weeks of holiday boozing and eating crap, I thought I'd never stop Of course it was actually all down to #fear about, well, something. Sky will fill you in...
The worst thing about the whole transfer is that you HAD Pogba, Ferguson determined that he wasn't good enough and he went. Surely the opinion of one of the best managers ever should worry fans about the situation? For me it would boil down too, could you get better for 100 million? and the answer is yes. With Liverpool 25 million for Wjanldum i think that money is spent poorly and can easily get better, obviously man u are dealing with 4 times the price but 100 million gets you a host of players. The spotlight for Pogba was on the Euros and he didn't deliver, was dropped because of attitude problems in training and really gave no performance which is worth 100 million.
