Looking at how bad things seem to be we only need 3 teams to be worse for city to stay up, who could they be ?
Unless something un-dreamed of happens we're doomed. Right now we're a car crash, no team looks worse than us.
If Martinez is appointed tomorrow, and we immediately pursue Kone and Robles, along with a few other players, I'd revise my opinion. We don't need much to become quite competitive. The fit players + Huddlestone, Livermore and Maguire are a very competitive core, we just need depth and bodies. Kone proved last season that he can be a brilliant hold up player which could suit Hernandez well.
yay there we go. some positivity at last. I reckon Bournemouth could end up with 2nd season syndrome.
Bournemouth have spent quite a bit already and will have Callum Wilson back after a full pre season. I'm not saying they won't necessarily struggle, they might, but they've gone about things the right way.
They spunked 6m on Brad Smith and 15m on Ibe. Those two could be good players, but they're also incredibly young and could go off the boil at some point. That's a lot of money to be spending as a second season club. Remember for comparison we spent 9m all up on Snodgrass + Robertson (essentially comparable) and still went down.
They also brought in Emerson Hyndman and Lewis Cook. They've targeted young players as they had a squad that was getting on a bit. They still need a striker though.
Is it likely that the present owners will sanction expense on players for a new but potentially temporary manager which they would not for Steve Bruce, bearing in mind that new owners may bring in their choice of manager who would want players of his choosing.
Maybe, maybe not, do not forget, the club is owned by what have eventually turned out to be unpredictable clowns.
