The excellent "Ascent of Man" series gets a couple of mentions - Jacob Bronowksi also had a Hull connection. He lectured in maths at the University (when it was known as the University College of Hull) from the mid 1930s until 1942.
One thing this thread has taught us is what a bag of ****e is served up on TV these days despite the multitude of channels, when people rave about the likes of X factor, BGT, Geordie Shores, Towie, Big Brother then I know that the bulk of TV is doomed.

Also missing is the most popular genre of TV show from the 50's and 60's - the Western. Bonanza, Wagon Train,Cheyenne, Gunsmoke, Rawhide and Maverick. UK countered with Robin Hood in the mid-50's.
