Watched new robot wars last night. 1. bit disappointing. 2. Seems to be looking at slight upgrades to some old bots. fans of old show would have recognised razor and bethmoth for sure and the axe robot was a rebuild of an old one too. 3. New arena a bit americanised with intros of drivers with bot before fights. very fast forwardable. 4. james pearce is back. other two both irish which is a bit odd. 5. same old issues with spinner robots going out of their way to trash other robots when they are down. fairly cheeky stuff. 6. less robots available i think.. looks that way anyway. 8 per show. lose 4 right off, lose 2 in a round robin league thing. anyway good to have the geek fest back but i still say the first wars with clarkson were the best cos it was pure shambles and funny.
ghostbusters - decent comedy - 6/10 tarzan was brilliant imo - 8.5/10 new star trek - good but not as good as the 2nd one - never watched old startrek shows so i find the reboots interesting - 7/10 Batman the killing joke anime - meh 5/10
ah sorry yes I did mean the commentator not the echo reporter currently having a great time on lfc tour. Its dara o brian or however he spells it off mock the week as host.... he wasn't that bad....
Watched Eden, very good again. Interesting show, next week looks good with the possibility of violence.
starts well enough but really falls away as the season nears the end, as luv said it got boring quite fast
My friends swear by it but I got bored after about 7 or 8 episodes. It is quite tough to get the motivation to put it on the more the series goes on, which isn't a sign of a brilliant TV show IMO.
Has anyone else watched Marco Polo? I've enjoyed the first 2 seasons but it seems to have had terrible reviews from the critics but good reviews from the audience.
Wouldn't pay too much attention to critics these days, most seem to be way out of touch. Some really good shows are panned by the critics but loved by the public, imdb scores are a better indicator.
Know you've got it in for BBC2 mate but thought they did a better job with the Robot Wars reboot than the latest Top Gear reincarnation Barely anything was changed of course except for the lead ins now being very OTT and therefore anti-climactic as the robots and the fights are pretty ****e It was going so well and then yeah that knobhead's voice starts shouting at ya, he really is dire Thought Dara and the Irish redhead girl did pretty well What pissed me off was how they were just using the same house robots from years ago ... make some badass ****ing new super-destructive ones FFS you lazy sods, the ones they've kept are weak-ass and look like they do barely any damage, whole thing needs to be way more devastating and consequences higher for the teams' bots if they **** up ... same goes for the competitors as above, surely you can build more dangerous bots !
Watched that Eden again ... how the **** has that fisherman guy not caught any fish, not a single one in 5 ****ing weeks what a loser
in fariness they did. I loved the show and this was ok. I was a little annoyed with the guy with the spinner going out of his way to be a dick and i think house robots are there not to sit about and look pretty but get stuck in. They are not actually same house robots but are upgraded but yet.. they were not amazing. Matilda had big upgrade with actual fast flipper tusks and huge spinner. I do think they should be up front and say you pay X for a bot then prove it and up to X we pay then the robot is in effect ours to trash. you survive you take it home. I felt it looked like they didn't get a huge interest and had few robots but some old faces were there. If you trash a robot in 5mins after 6 months effort it puts lads off... and frankly if you come in new or have a family doing it you'll be put right off. thats the point... bit of courtesy... battle hard when moving... if a robot is out.. taking it to bits for a 30 second high probably does more harm than good ans if if they were ****e they aint coming back.
