Anyone else liking the 3rd kit a lot more now? I was a bit iffy on the colour but I think it looked good having seen them out there playing.
First time I have seen most of these young academy players. Have to say I'm quite impressed Harrison looks the goods . Onomah looks like he could get the occasional cup game this season.
A agree absolutely PNP the price of all this marketing is very high and most of the travelling is long haul but hopefully there is enough time between now and the start of the season to recover.
We were missing a goalkeeper, 4 centre backs, a right back and 2 left backs who all would be picked over those who started. Was a bit of a miracle we actually managed to limit their chances after an awful first 20, especially considering how **** our attack was at keeping the ball. Agree with you on the potentinal N'ew Signing though. Onomah should be ready for more football, Edwards may well be getting his first tastes of first team football and Sterling might well get some time too. Maybe Chadli will be sold to make some room. I thought Carroll looked decent again today so I'd quite like to see him get more of a go next season as well, just not in centre mid as he's terrible there. Bentaleb going makes more sense with Winks coming through too. Played a really nice chipped pass to try and set Onomah in and always looks very comfortable out there. Dier, Wanyama, Dembele, Mason and Winks gives us good options in central midfield. Might see Ball there as backup too seeing as he did a good job for Rangers as a holding midfielder.
Maybe I'm being a bit harsh, but I don't think that three centre-halves is enough and I still feel that we need another deep midfielder. Our balance is a bit off. We've got loads of attacking midfielders and multiple right-backs, but only two strikers, for example. That's twice as many as we had last season and maybe Harrison's on the fringe, but it feels short, to me.
Having luxury MF players has long been part of the Spurs way. When : 1. There are other MF players collectively doing the spade work. 2. The luxury players are generally delivering the goods. In the Pochettino system, if you are not #1 then you better be #2. Chadli is going to have to return to the form of two seasons ago, and Son show the form of his beginnings in last season. I expect nothing less from either. More so when you have the likes of Bentaleb/Mason/Pritchard being shown the door.
It's like watching a herd of cheddar cheese running around a meadow. Maybe Chevington should use us for their next advert campaign?
We've got Dier and Davies who can cover centre half so I think we are ok there. I also don't think we need more than two 'strikers'. A front three of Alli, Lamela and Son would be a handful for most defences. Its quite hard to see how we can strengthen too much without stopping our youngsters getting playing time.
****ing typical, Tuesday's are usually my easiest day at work but some client decides to hit me with a million orders Missed the game completely, read a few comments on here and twitter, looks like we went a bit too inexperienced at the back and that was punished accordingly. Apparently Lamela and Wanyama were good. How was Edwards, Onomah, CCV and the rest of the young lads? Heard Janssen got no service so couldn't really be judged.
Second half was very encouraging with Lamella the elder statesman and Edwards looking lively and unfazed, Amos making one very impressive tackle, Winks also looked impressive.
Missed the game? Heh http://sportyhighlights.com/juventus-vs-tottenham-highlights-full-match/ Those of you still using AdBlock Plus should probably think about disabling it and moving on to uBlock Origin. Too many sites are not playing ball with AdBlock Plus.
And AdBlock Plus sold out. I don't mean that metaphorically either, they literally sold up and the new owner allows adverts if they get paid.
Cheers Spurf, I remember watching Amos in our Youth Semi final against Chelsea a couple seasons back and thought he looked good, didn't really hear much of him last season so nice seeing him given a chance now. Winks definitely deserves some more game time this year. I'm so excited about the potential of Edwards, just hope we can assure him this is the place for him and he's not swayed elsewhere.
Thinking about it, with Dembele and Mason picking up a lot of injuries we could maybe do with Bentaleb or an extra player in midfield. I think it makes sense not to overpack our squad though. Keep it small and if we're short then let the youngsters pop up out of nowhere, like Kane, Mason, Bentaleb and Alli have in the past. I'd have no problem with Jansen, Onomah or Winks getting an extended run in the side whilst a player's out.
