Sorry , but we can do better with 13 million folks . Allen left to go to Liverpool , and Allen stayed away to go to Stoke .....now we can concentrate on players we actually need .....a striker or two
Twitter: If this rumour that Joe Allen is having a medical at #Stoke today is true I am one very unhappy #Swans fan. Can't believe Joe Allen is set to join stoke rather than coming home to Swansea Good luck Joe Allen. #lfc#Stoke. Swans won't spend due to stadium. What's the point in having a great stadium in championship? #relegated Joe Allen is there for the taking don't see why we haven't made a move ? #swans very very very disappointed Swansea haven't even tried to get Joe Allen, he's a Swansea boy and would've come back in a heartbeat! not good! Not that midfielders are Swansea's priority right now but Joe Allen signing would've done Kaplan & Levien a lot of good in the eyes of fans So we sit back and watch as Joe Allen joins Stoke & are then linked with a move for Alex Pritchard?! Anyone care to explain that one? #Swans Has Joe Allen signed for Stoke yet? Surely the swans could see the benefits of re-signing him? #lackofambition Seeing Joe Allen in a Stoke shirt will actually make me a little sick in my mouth! Please let this be a dream and Huw will swoop in! #swans If Huw doesn't move mountains to get Joe Allen I'll be gutted #WelshPirlo#WeeJoe#ComeHomeJoe So much for the money for transfers when the yanks arrived ,with rumours of gylfi and ayew being subject to big transfer fees that the club will not refuse its looking like it's going to be a long hard relegation battle ,after so much talk about new players coming in to strengthen the squad now it's looking like we have become a money grabbing feeder club ,the futures looking bleak ,any body want to buy a season ticket because can't see myself wanting mine if this keeps up. Just a few Jacks thoughts on your ineptitude Huw............
It's just left over emotion from Euro , I'm actually glad we didn't try to match the bid ....we have better already IMO ...and for less money .
Dodged a bullet imo , an expensive one at that . Why sign a player we don't need with the money we do need to be spent on someone we do need . Just don't call me needy
Well I guess Stoke needed him , we will see soon enough if their 13 million and healthy wage soothes their need .
Here's a fair view of Huw I picked up on another forum! "I think Huw is a bit cagey regards any transfer as he has this 'flawed' persona (IMO ) as some transfer mogul able to unearth talent seasonally. Which of course he isn't. And this was the crux behind ML leaving our club again IMO. Let's be honest Laudrup brought with him most of his transfers. Huw only got involved at this level when Sousa made it clear recruitment wasn't his job. Laudrup didn't like his interfering. However that's another thread. Huw hasn't really unearthed masses of talent, yes he has coordinated Neil Taylor and Ash coming to the club along with Fer. But he also has made huge errors to. N'gog, Bessone coming back, the Dutch guy defender who was ok but only rarely. That's how much I remember him. There are many others which must have cost the club dearly. Huw is running scared at the moment. He knows the Yankees are watching his every move and he doesn't want to Fck up. This means he will become more ponderous and slow in decision making which in turn will affect the opportunity to recruit the best players via agents coming to us with players or those we regulaly employ to find them. I can't see anyone coming in until the new month begins, again from a financial point of view. Huw has too much on his mind, he isn't pragmatic enough to deal with these high value, pressurised decisions. It will be the end of him I am sure, we may be the 51at state of Levien and they won't be happy with Huw if he continues to contemplate his naval whilst his own personal Rome is smouldering ready to combust".
The problem Phil is that most of these posters are using the benefit of hindsight to slag Huw off, and they completely ignore the good players we have brought here. I have no time of people who are to blinkered to see that you need to look at the whole picture. These kind of fans are the ones at clubs who have ****ed up like Newcastle, Leeds and Portsmouth, massive debts and massive failures all. The utter gamble these fans demand is beyond ridiculous, listening to them is even worse. The kind of talk of spending £50m or so on players saying it's nothing for a premier league club are the ones who don't hang around when things go tits up, for a comparison look at the brexit campaigners who have all sod off for others to pick up the pieces. With us who will pick up the pieces if it ****s up after spending £50m ?
I don't see Allen being better than Fer , Cork or Ki frankly and we would have to almost pay as much as all three players put together to bring in Allen . Allen's first opportunity to walk out the door ....he walked , he can keep on walking too . On to better players , and ones we actually need .
Well you can't blame him for wanting to go to Liverpool, massive club with plenty of history and a place to put your stamp on it. Unfortunately for Allen it didn't work out for him. But all I can say is that returning players very seldom work, and we will never know if he would have come back here and be a success. Looking at his recent history with Liverpool I would say no, looking at his euro 2016 exploits I would say yes. Whatever the outcome he's not our problem now, and we move on to more pressing matters.
Gee whiz.......I honestly did not realize JA was that good that some could go into hysterics he may,or has he signed for Stoke?
Nope signed a 5 year contract with them now, which is another thing, we would never offer that length of contract. The way some go on its as if he was the only possible player who could do the role. Myself I said he was worth about what we offered which was £8m or so, any more and you are overpaying imo
Is Joe as good as Leon , no he isn't and possibly will never be .A good player but a 13 million pound player even in todays ridiculously inflated prices.
Can HJ get the season postponed til January? This will give him time to get some players out and get some in at the right price. Other clubs seem to be speculating to accumulate, the Swans seem to be happy to run the club like a corner shop knowing that Tesco Extra is moving to the next plot and still hoping to compete........
Really? Wasn't this the first signing by Stoke? We have signed 5 upto now including two going into the development squad
Swansea chairman reassures fans about further signings Mon Jul 25, 2016 3:59pm IST REUTERS - Swansea City are looking to bolster their attacking firepower and are targeting two strikers before the new season, the Premier League club's chairman Huw Jenkins said. Swansea have signed midfielder Leroy Fer, defender Mike van der Hoorn and goalkeeper Mark Birighitti, but striker Alberto Paloschi has joined Atalanta and uncertainty surrounds the future of Bafetimbi Gomis. British media reported that the club have failed to match Stoke City's bid for Wales international and former Swansea midfielder Joe Allen. "It's pretty obvious we need one, maybe two strikers and another player. Three is probably the minimum," Jenkins said. "In the next few weeks we will bring some players in. We also have to make sure we keep the squad we've got. We've talked a lot about football and we've got a few options in mind." Swansea open their Premier League campaign with a trip to Burnley on August 13. Where the hell did 'further' come from? Have we been signing anything other than kids? Jinxs is comedy gold...............
