    RE benali. Is it just me or was he a bit of a joke player? Much loved by all but a bit of a comedy defender. (Though most of our defending was comical in that era).

    All I remember, is that when both Barcelona and Real Madrid put offers in for him, he flat out stated that he wasn't interested. You've got to admire him for that.

    No its not just you, he had the subtlety of a rabid dog and about the same level of skill.
    But I loved him in the red & white stripes and whitnessed his one and only goal [think he was trying to cross it].

    He was a kind of anti-le tiss. One major similarity, but then different in every way. I suppose (In regards your previous post) would be like keeping Fox until retirement in the PL or Harding in the Champ, and them having to adopt a more combative approach as spoiling LB when called upon, to make up for their short comings at that level.

    Since retiring he has done countless charity work. Doesn't look for the plaudits of tele, he is just a thoroughly decent human.

    That's interesting, are you doubtful he'll keep preforming at his current level? The guy they got from CSKA looked lightning fast Celtic (I think our Mane replacement may have ended up at Leicester). They'll going to be very effective, and will still cause mayhem with Drinkwater and newboy Mendy screening and pulling the strings to release those two.
