There is apparently going to be an anti Allam march on Saturday 6th of August from the city centre to the KCom. Meeting at McDonald's at 10am. ( that will be everyone with the Big Macs then). I'm in anyone else?
That will be a disaster. I remember meeting outside a cafe in London once before a City game and there was about 50 of us and some were inside eating. Because people were having to wait for them finishing eating more went in to have something to eat and eventually it became obvious it wasn't going to stop so some of us gave up and left.
As already mentioned in other threads that is not going to happen. To be honest the more people that go to the matches and join the protest that will happen the more chance of our protest going global. All not attending the match will do is give the club the same reputation as the empty seats at Wembley. The only club that got good press out of that was Wednesday for bringing 25000 day trippers. The reasons for our empty seats where never discussed by the world media, we are a tinpot club that doesn't belong in the PL in their eyes. A stadium full of supporters chanting for the Allams to go will have far more impact as it will come over in the commentary and the world media might sit up and take notice.
Why the hell are we doing this on the 6th August? and not before the first game??? Surely marching to an empty stadium where nobody will be and no TV attending will be bloody stupid?!
On the day of the first game if its not been settled by then is THE DAY to do it... By then, chance to perhaps get the red cards together give them out and to Leicester supporters who'll join in... who commissioned them last time...? ...
It was the Supporters Trust. We've got a meeting tonight and we'll of course be discussing how to approach this latest round of protests.
It's a no brainer to do it on the match day! But it has to be made clear what is required? We all stay out of the ground? Or we all protest inside the ground? No half measures.
I don't know how to ask this, without being accused of being negative, or pro Allam, but how does a protest like this work in reality? I don't want to get into whether Americans had the money or not, but if there isn't a realistic buyer on the horizon, how do the Allams leave? We've had shouts and abuse at the chairman for long enough with no real impact. Newcastle, Man Utd and others have had similar protests over the years, that just build anger. Is it time to look for an alternative approach? Perhaps run in parallel?
I think there's a feeling that if the Allams had been under more pressure to get out ahead of the discussions with the Americans we might not be in this position and that it's time to make them desperate to get out. Though I have to say, I don't see the point of a march on Aug 6th either.
Its ridiculous to do it then. The worlds media will be in Hull the weekend after, anyone planning this for the 6th is frankly making a bollocks of it.
What is the focus and purpose of the protest? It all sounds a bit random and "down with this sort of thing" to me. Protests are a bit 2014 to me. It's all about supporting the team again in 2016. Although I accept I might be alone in that policy.
I think we do it first game of season, I also think that each person should take the time to make a banner with there reason for been there, for instance I will be there with my 6 year old son so my banner would be against the membership scheme. For others it could be something else, there is tons of reasons to protest so instead of picking one lets show the media who will be there how many reasons there actually is.
If you're going to protest you need to agree on what it is you are protesting about - otherwise it's a waste of time. The lack of concessions on the Membership scheme is a legitimate thing to protest against & a visual protest (like the red cards) in front of the TV cameras is probably as visually effective as any. However, as is already evident, the more people protest the less likely it is that the Owners will change anything. Push and the natural response is to push back harder. Much better to ignore the Owners and concentrate on supporting the team and the new manager - whoever he turns out to be.
