What does it prove scooter ? It is media speculation about Hernandez. He is still here, end of. Other reports say Hull were willing to accept half of what they paid for him. You really are a know all gobshite aren't you. Thank **** in only have to read what you say on here and don't have to work with you.
About sums it up for me, I don't think he is our greatest ever manager either Bruce. Browny saved us from relegation then got us promoted with the likes of Wayne Brown in defence and I reckon Peter Taylor would have got us up too if he hadn't made a daft decision to leave, I never spent every week wondering what the hell Taylor was doing with the tactics and team selection.
The only thing I disagree with Steve there is I'm not sure he wanted to leave us in the ****, I don't think he had any choice but he probably has been manipulated
Are we talking about the same Peter Taylor that the usual muppets on here ridiculed cos he always brought everyone back for corners and signed Junior Lewis? He wasn't rated by plenty. And Phil Brown? The same Phil Brown ridiculed on here and elsewhere by the usual muppets for his speech, his clothes, his team talks, his reliance on Sam Allardyce? What **** supporters we have. Experts raised on a diet of Terry Dolan and Martin Fish .
Did I hear experts mentioned? There's a surprise coming from you. Bruce inherited a lot of money and built on the good work of Barmby and Pearson, Taylor and Brownie built the club up from scratch. Bruce had the most success as a manager but he wasn't the best manager we have had. Not by a long shot and I'm sure a lot of old timers on here will remember better managers before my time which started in the early 80's too. Remember Bruce didn't actually win anything.
Another point I'd like to make about Bruce is on the coaching side, we have great young players like Robertson and have they really improved that much under Bruce or not, I'd argue not as Robertson is as bad defensively as he was when he got in the team and Maguire was dropped for Dawson as soon as humanly possibly despite making us look a real team playing out from the back.
Best ever FA Cup Run Best ever League Cup Run Highest PL finish (while on said FA Cup Run) Two promotions (one during said League Cup Run) Only HCAFC manager to gain automatic promotion to the PL Hard to argue that he was the best, think he's top 10 for most games managed for us too.
Like I said he had the best achievements, in my view he is not the best manager we have had, which is what I said to Armchair City Man
Fair enough. I think Brown was shown up in a lot of areas off the pitch, particularly in the transfer market. As touched on yesterday, Bruce has actually had far more hits than misses on the permanent transfer front.
There's pros and cons to every manager we have had, you could start a whole new thread on it .For me Bruce has been terrible tactically for the last few years and we got away with one last season. Some of us suspected things weren't right last season so that means the promotion was a much better achievement than it looked but most of the season he was more or less admitting he couldn't put a finger on why the team was misfiring all the time which is not encouraging for a so called top coach. I said before he would have kept us up this season given the owners support and there's no doubt at all his achievements are the best of any City manager. I just think after 3 days it's time to give actual opinions and not be hypocritical and pretend to be a head in the sand type who thinks Bruce is the best manager since Bill Shankley
To be honest I think the side has been misfiring for two seasons now because of the unrest in the stands. He can't exactly come out and say that's the reason though can he?
The thing about that word is that it's objective. 'Successful' would be a better measure of ranking managers in terms of effectiveness. 'Best' is just down to opinion.
Everything is subjective when it comes to opinion, mines no better than yours and so on. There is no real way to decide something like this. I think building something from scratch or without a lot of funds successfully is a better measure of a manager, you could give a lot of managers the same cash Bruce has had and I reckon they would have done the same or even better with the money. Others will say well we got to a Cup final and we had a great day out and so on so that why Bruce is the greatest. I think if Bruce wanted to save the club he could have stayed on and worked until the current owners clear out, or until they sacked him like they did Barmby. The fans would know he had no money to spend. Maybe then he could be classed the greatest in my eyes.
So when Bruce (and his team) identify great young talent and sign it, they're still ****s because the signings haven't improved sufficiently? ****in priceless.
