Either they are paying lip service to the fans, or they are confident that Joe will arrive come what may....
Well best of luck to him, be glad to move on from a player we don't actually need. The priority are forwards not midfield players
Well they been in charge for two days, you can hardly blame them, Allen was always going to listen to what Hughes said. He's obviously has done a good job of selling himself and his club.
Doesn't look like he's coming to us then. If we don't make a big signing then the knives will be out for the new owners
Some reports are saying Allen is in Swansea others are saying Stoke. Most importantly where is his agent?
I would say Stoke if he met with Hughes today. The stuff about him being in Swansea is wishful thinking imo
Isn't hughes in America right now for pre season. Although that doesn't matter in this day and age he could have had a Skype chat with him.
No idea, but it's only a plane ride away, so he could have either delayed his going there or came back for this meeting. Looking at their website they played a friendly at Preston yesterday and Hughes was there, so likely they are flying tomorrow.
Allen set to have a medical today for Stoke, so that's the end of it http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/joe-allen-set-stoke-medical-11658083
There are plenty of other targets to go for, I'll be happy to sign forwards that are much needed at the club. Allen was not really needed at the club, we have a surplus of midfield players, and at that price it wasn't going to happen.
Of course he was needed. We cannot rely on Leon week in, week out. We shouldn't have bought Fer at the expense of Joe and should have sold Ki if the reported offer from Stoke is true. We have nobody in the squad who does what Leon does, Joe possess the same qualities.
Why? Fer can be a valuable part of our team, dismissing him is not a good start of him being with us. As for Ki, he's worth more than what was offered, why should we sell on our players on the cheap? There's a lot of moaning about us doing that over the years, if a bid came in for Siggy for example should we sell him cheaply, or try and get the best price? We have players in the club that could have the potential for what Leon does, I think Cork is one of them. Allen whilst a good player is part of our history and imo we shouldn't be going back there when there is no need. We need forwards it's that simple, the money spent should go on that rather than a midfield player where there's plenty here. It's a case of priorities.
Think you need perspective on this, we're not a big club, and we'll bring players in that will fit in with the current structure of the team. Saying that the club is incompetent is rather disingenuous to say the least. They have got us to where we are now, that is not through being incompetent.
He's a good squad player. That's it imo. If Leon is fit he starts every time before Fer, or at least he should. As for Ki, he was rubbish last season, and £7-8 million is a good deal for the way he played last year. Cork is a very, very good player, but he doesn't have the same ability as Joe and Leon on the ball. He's a more robust DM.
Last season showed that they are becoming incompetent, the way this takeover deal was handled, and the current window would suggest otherwise. I mean, we are 2 weeks away from a new season and we have no strikers, and don't seem to be linked with anyone. That is very worrying at the moment.
Well it looks like Allan is going to Stoke to be completed either today or tomorrow. Looks like we've lined up a replacement already in Alex Pritchard TBH I don't know much about this guy. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/swansea-city-linked-move-8-11658437
The takeover could have been handled better, but that's water under the bridge now, we must proceed now not dwell on what could have been, or how things should have been done, that is just pointless as we can't change what has happened so moaning about it is not constructive. As for not signing anyone, well there's time yet, and though the season starts in mid August we have until the end of the month to bring people in, so about 5 weeks. On being linked with anyone, that is rumour and speculation, it's not fact so it's not something I'm too worried about.
The takeover was always going to be a messy affair simply due to the amount of parties involved. Its completed now and if they want the backing of the fans they need to deliver on thier promises.
