Yeah, I was reading the statement from the police and the media background articles too. A kid born and raised in Munich, who didn't seem to have many, if any, friends. Was overweight and bullied for it, was a loner and bullied for it. He was also receiving treatment for depression and was receiving psychotherapy also. Lots of history of searching for and reading up on mass killings and copycat killings, Anders Breivik being one particular individual of a lot of interest to the killer.

Then, five years to the day of Breivik's massacre, he takes to the street and kills nine. Awful.

Watching it I was thinking about how the rain didn't stop the race, it merely made the riders ride in a more careful way knowing that a mistake would see them crash out.

If only Formula 1 did the same, rather than revertin to safety cars if it's a bit too damp. It's only really dangerous if the drivers aren't skillful enough to deal with it - the winner would be the driver who can best assess what pace is okay to make it round the corners.

Ah Tom, saw these, some had 15 hours in queues. First thoughts were that Nigel Farage had announced he was coming to Kent again and everyone was leaving the county.

France quite rightly doing extra security checks but they need extra resources which I understand Britain are now assisting with.

Touble is in formula 1 that they would have to drive at about 40mph unless they were at the front because of the amount of spray from the car in front of them. Impossible for them to see with the spray.

In cycling you don't have that spray issue although it is annoying the line of dirty splats up your bum and back when you get off.

The North Miami cop who shot an unarmed man trying to calm a patient with autism was hit accidentally, police union officials said, and the officer believed he was saving that man's life.

The shooting of behavior therapist Charles Kinsey on Monday was caught on a witness's cellphone video and went viral Thursday. It also sparked outrage nationwide as an apparent example of excessive policing against an unarmed black man.

Kinsey, before he was shot in the leg, could be seen lying on the pavement with his hands in the air. He told police that he was unarmed and that the man sitting beside him was autistic and holding a toy truck — not a gun as a 911 caller had claimed.

John Rivera, president of the Police Benevolent Association in Dade County, told reporters Thursday that the officer who fired thought Kinsey's life was in danger.

"It appeared to the officers that the white male was trying to do harm to Mr. Kinsey," Rivera said. "In fearing for Mr. Kinsey's life, the officer discharged his firearm trying to save Mr. Kinsey's life and he missed."

So basically "I tried shooting a autistic child playing with a truck. But missed and shot a black man".

    American police are ****ed up.

American policemen seem to panic easily and not have the patience to sit things out...also seem to be poor shots! I do understand the panic thing to a certain extent as they live in a dangerous society and expect to be shot themselves, but some of the recent shootings are dreadful with people being shot who are no threat or very little threat. I can imagine that if you are held by two British policemen, you have a good chance of coming out of it alive if you stand still....not so certain in America.

As well as that, having seen some clips of them handling menial offences they seem to look incompetent, as if they have not had any training.

Los Angeles Police starting salary = £44,990 per year
England and Wales police starting = £19,383 to £22,962 per year
Scotland police starting salary = £23,493

I know there are variations in tax/cost of living etc but I feel Americans are not getting value for money.

My friend who is in her sixties and 4'9 approached a police car to ask the way whilst in America....she was immediately surrounded by a group of policemen with machine guns who had been in an unmarked van. Presumably they were watching something....in which case, they gave themselves away. Far easier if they had just answered her question and the cops hiding in the van would have maintained their anonymity.

Watching a rather boring Grand Prix.
Isn't it time the tracks, that don't offer decent opportunity to overtake, were told to make alterations or get dropped.
The lack of "proper" racing is the main reason why I tend to turn over, once the start has settled down into a procession.

Updated from the latest press conference on the Germany shooting:

    - Shooter planned shooting since last summer.
    - He visited Winnenden and made pictures of the scene of the shooting there (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winnenden_school_shooting )
    - Received treatment for an anxiety disorder and depression. Was in stationary treatment, too.
    - He wrote a manifest.
    - He played Counterstrike
    - He fired 57 shots. (had 300 more bullets in his backpack)
    - The Facebook account wasn't a hacked one, but he created a fake one.
    - His parents can't be questioned yet.
    - He has a younger brother.

Also, not from the press conference but another thing I heard today: One kosovan family lost 3 kids, between 14 and 16 years.

Yeah that was pretty awful. Hungary has always been a bit of a crap track in all honesty. Had a couple of decent races there, but more to do with weather than layout.

Really? I went about 7 years ago and spent most of it being approached and cajoled by unfeasibly attractive prostitutes.
