He's not **** though is he Mango? Or did you not see Newcastle last season?

If he leaves the thuggery behind he would be an absolute gem signing for us (imo).

I've said my piece on him in a different thread.

Would you take a risk on him? Perhaps Marlon King too? What about Lee Hughes? They could still score goals?

I would be unimpressed, if (and it's a mah-hassive IF) we did sign him.

Like I said on a previous thread Mango, I wouldn't tar all criminals with the same brush. You can't hang a man for doing 80 down the M1 can you.

Beating someone up at football training/outside a nightclub does not constitute being a sex offender & abuser (King), or Killing someone and leggin it from the scene of the crime (Hughes).

And my original point was not about his undoubted football skills (at least in his head "Best midfielder in the country") but about him as a person.

Joey Barton is a bright lad. He's persuasive and articulate, and extremely good at persuading a listener that he's turned the corner, learned the lesson of his ways, is misunderstood and had been transformed into a peacemaker - and then he goes and thumps someone again...:emoticon-0101-sadsm

Don't want. I'm already concerned at how bothroyd/taraabt might get along when the going gets tough, let alone Barton.

Agreed. Enough possible flash points to contend with. I rate him as a player, but he'd be too much of a risk imo.

Why don't we persuade Jose Luis Chilavert to come out of retirement, then maybe get Cantona in.

Mark Dennis could probably still do a job......

How many nutters do we want?

    LOL!!!

    Harsh but fair! ;)

Can't see JB coming to us, can really see him going to a Villa or Everton or something. Shame because he would be mint in Derry's role.

... On another note, wtf is happening at Toon? First Carroll then Nolan and now Barton. Forgive me if I am wrong, but isn't that their best 3 players out the door in 6 months? Ashley is such a gimp, I can see newcastle struggling against relegation again this year.
