Must admit I'm somewhat surprised that we have no actual or prospective signings from the Italian League. I had expected Guidolin to have a list of players he "knows" who would be capable of adapting to the PL, as well as knowing his system of play.
http://www.insidefutbol.com/2016/07/23/marseille-make-breakthrough-in-bafetimbi-gomis-talks/296350/ I suppose it is a start and gets rid of him for at least one season.
Swan he has 2 seasons left on his contract and like you hope he does well for them they may then take him off our hands.
Well it looks like Gomis is finally on his way to Marseille with them picking up 60 % of his wages , without possibilities of him being outright bought ... Which seems surprising . Maybe if he plays well , and his 8 million is finally fully in his pocket , we might actually make some money off him next summer . Regardless , it will certainly make room for neveroffside ...lol
Using that approach, If Canas had joined first, we may never have signed Michu. Not all signings will work. As well as Michu, Chico, Pablo & Amat were "great" - Canas and Pozuelo not so successful.
I' d have to take exception with your thoughts on Poz . Your thoughts on the rest are all fine IMO .......BUT they all had plenty of minutes to draw a conclusion , or attempt a conclusion . That is not the case with Palo or Eder . I was probably the only one around here wanting to give Eder full opportunity to show what he's got . We didn't give him opportunity but Lille did ......with incredible success . And anyone who seen the 45 minutes in the Euro final , and not just the stunning goal , knows the quality he exuded for that 45 minutes ... Best player during that most important 45 minutes of the Euro . Now Lille have a fully confident striker that other teams are trying to lure away from Lille for twice what they payed for him .....a player we made a decision on after 269 minutes . I'm probably the only one here that thinks we blew it the same way with Palo , but I guess time will tell as he embarks on his new season with his new Italian club after just over 700 minutes with us . I think we knee jerked on both players as they slipped from our fingers .
Roof - I didn't say Poz was poor, I said that he was not as successful for us as the likes of Michu & Chico. That could be down to the lack of playing time - or something else, attitude; difficulty in adapting to a foreign country etc?
I believe Poz's big role was in Europe and filling in domestically because of injury to others . Both roles he did very well at a very , very cheap price ...I would put his success at the club ahead of Amat and Pablo in the scope of value to success
Sorry Roof - can't agree. Taking Pablo first - his inch perfect pass setting up Routs for the opener against Cardiff was pivotal in setting us up to beat them. If we had lost that game, we could have been in free fall..... As for Amat - he has rarely if ever let us down, and always gives 100%. There's a strong argument that he is at least as good as Fernandez. In comparison to both, Poz was a "one season what may have been" .....
I always rated him, but thought he was played out of position when he was played. But apparently a poor attitude, shame he had an awful lot of talent.
I thought his attidude was fine , it was his loyalty that was his downfall ...like almost all the spanish players that came in under ....you know who .
