Also been told Ivory's other runner @ Lingfield, 8 40 is very well in and expected to win. 5/1

    Sir Isaac Newton 16/1

Taken him a long time to start showing the ability and learning how to race, and as a full brother to Secret Gesture it's no surprise to see that progress coming now he's been stepped up past a mile.

He used to be very very keen in his races but settled better at Ascot and Curragh the last twice, winning a good quality handicap and a Group 3 (10f) He was strong at the finish and should get a mile and a half- the key again is settling him which is a concern as we are not sure where the pace will come from. You'd think that Second Step- a strong stayer- might look to test them all but there are no guarantees.

He is overpriced though in a very open renewal this year.

Have a look at Get Knotted @ York
not specific info but was chatting with Mr Dods at Ripon recently and he really likes this horse. very quirky but if all well on day will take some beating.
seems to like York so .....

Talking of York, in the 4 10 - Louis The Pious 25/1

At the odds Intisaab is D O'Meara's best chance but with Tudhope taking Louis The Pious instead it really smells of a O'Meara special plot and he loves winning these sprint races, pretty much top weight but well in on it's old form, and if O'Meara has plotted this up then it should take all the beating as it is the class horse in the race, will have the rail too.

Hello, hello, hello. Decent racing today but if there are a plethora of punting possibilities I have my doubts…

Huge day for one Wiltshire barn this afternoon namely that of Mr Charlton and it’s not an exaggeration to say that his 2 best prospects are both out and are expected to win and win well, I say win well. TIME TEST (3.35 York) really looks to have everything in his favour in this Group 2 and it will be a huge shock if he doesn’t dot up. FAIR EVA (2.45 Ascot), what a lovely name for a filly by the way, had a huge reputation prior to her racecourse bow at Haydock Park and she didn’t disappoint as she cruised to an easy victory. She should oblige before spending the rest of her career contesting Group 1’s. Both are though odds-on and not really betting propositions for a humble working man.

Meanwhile, a woefully, woefully, woefully weak ‘King George’ (4.30 Ascot) can I think go the way of HIGHLAND REEL and a very interesting runner in the evening is LEONCAVALLO (6.40 Lingers Park). He excelled, in the NH sphere, last term as a juvenile hurdler with 5 wins (including at Listed level) and returned to the Flat looks very, very well perched on a mark of just 66. Off such a lowly rating you would expect him to win this heat. Like Mr Charlton’s ‘deadly duo’ though this one is very short in the old market.

    Good luck all.

Well yesterday's speculative ew punt went well. The trainer reports on his daily blog that the lovely Rhianna is finished with racing after yesterday's flop as she just can't cope! Onwards and upwards, a couple in the International Lottery Handicap at Ascot. Don't Bother Me and Lincoln both ew. The former has run good races at this venue before in similar races and the latter is down to a decent weight. 20s and 22s respectively. All the best to Gazboy - 50k in this heat, must be barking. And best wishes to Swanny in Munich.

The claimer gets on well with Intisaab whereas Tudhope has never placed on it in so in my opinion i wouldnt read too much into it

The opener at Ascot looks a very tough assignment for Frankuus as stablemate Monticello was visually impressive last time and Dubai Hero did not look a slouch either.

So Frankel may have to wait until the Princess Margaret for victory as Fair Eva was hugely impressive on debut and her cramped odds reflect her chances of collecting this on the way to better things. The 12/1 for the 1000 Guineas might be a distant memory by three o’clock...

In the King George, I am sticking with DARTMOUTH although I have question marks about how the race is going to be run. The last time I backed one of Stoute’s in this it was Hardwicke winner Sea Moon (on a winning sequence, well beaten favourite behind Danedream), which does not augur well. Just looking at the ratings, this is a moderate field for a race worth over a million in prize money – Postponed would have won easily.

Adnams are sponsoring the card at Newmarket but quite frankly their beer seems a better bet than most of the races on the card. Over at York, Time Test looks the proverbial penalty kick in the York Stakes. With Goodwood next week, today’s meetings appear to be lacking numbers and only look good for somebody interested in multiple bets on short prices; and as usual some of them will be turned over.

There were two or three running today that I would have had a look at as their odds appeared to be generous in comparison to their form but I see Sir Roderic is already a no show for one...
