Meanwhile the stupids wander around completely oblivious to the chain of events they have lit the touch paper for.

The original was Denis Healey in the '70's. As he quickly found out, even in those days the rich did not stick around to get taxed "until, the pips squeak" and I quote. They all ****ed off elsewhere...

Are we suggesting that Corbyn doesn't have some plan to increase taxes on those he perceives to be rich?

I guess it's academic, anyway. I have more chance of being PM than Corbyn!...

Ahh sorry, I thought you meant you'd actually read Corbyn's policy proposals then.

And no, his plan isn't just 'tax the rich and get them to pay for everything under the sun'.

Do you live in Dover then? You should be able to keep us abreast of airport developments!

I have a real problem with this cos ultimately it is blackmail from the companies and instead of being draconian with their taxes it is us that get a battering.
The rise in NI contributions in April mean that I lost over £40 per month while my pay rise was only a tenner a month cos as a public sector worker earning £1000 per month take home I get a 1% pay rise.
If Amazon don't want to pay tax then block their website so the greedy ****s can't trade here ... if they want the benefits of democracy then they should obey the democratic rules of the government...like we have to.

Sorry if I sound like I am ranting at you cos I ain't...it's the government...they jail "benefit cheats" but allow companies to cheat on a far bigger scale and yet no one gets punished... pisses me off

Spot on <ok> It's not good enough to say 'Big Business is avoiding corporation tax, so let's lower it, because it will encourage them to pay some, rather than none at all'. Also as I've pointed out, these companies will not up sticks and leave the UK, because their share of the market is far too profitable for them to ditch it. HSBC tried to call the Govt's bluff on this and they backed down, because they knew they would be shooting themselves in the foot and that their shareholders would be up in arms if they suddenly ditched a profitable part of their operations.

As you rightly point out, Govt should not allow itself to be blackmailed by these corporate executives, the problem is that they have bent over for them in the past, taken huge party donations from them, and in some cases sat on the board of directors of these companies. In my opinion MPs should only have one job, being an MP, as any other job immediately creates a conflict of interest.

Is this a bad time to highlight the leaked TTIP trade agreement includes the right of global corporations to move their workers freely within the TTIP area. In other words they can bring in workers to do a job and then send them back, thereby avoiding paying the taxes of the country where they have won a contract and instead paying them according to the country they are shipped in from.
