Many fans are also not happy..............about him being at Deepdale... Reports from the pre season friendly games would strongly suggest that Mellor's heart is elsewhere and not at Deepdale. I am sure he is well capable of scoring goals at Div 1 level "BUT" he will only do that if he is committed to playing for the Lilywhites. I recall a possible Mellor move to Millwall being mentioned previously. IF ???? he was to leave then PNE need a replacement and quick...
Treacy will be joining the Dingles subject to medical. PNE have announced as much on the link below. I'm afraid what ML has to say does NOT make happy reading either about the Treacy move OR TH's views on his financial support of the club..IMHO of course. http://www.pnefc.net/page/NewsDetail/0,,10362~2406552,00.html
We will have to face it. TH is no sugar daddy. Cannot blame him for not wishing to throw his money away, particularly as there is little fan support. We face a death by a thousand cuts and there must be some among us who would wish for a clean exit rather than that. What odds for PB to be around come January?
Maybe someone,e.g. TheNextOwner...could explain to us not versed in high financd why a fabulously rich person like TH would buy a footy club & allow it go into administration? It baffles me & to claim poverty when he has more money than I will eve earn even if I worked until the end of the world. I am aware the TH is a NE supporter. Good for him. But why did he buy it? As for the seeling of Tracey. ACCORDING TO REPORTS i HAVE READ, HE BLEW HOT & cold. Perhaps the young pups will be more consistent. How is the historic City? It is a few years since I tried to negotiate the traffic system? People down here 'just love' my accent. To my family who live in the Preston area, I sound like a southerner! Next Saturday is the starrt of the new season. Up the original, the one and only Lily Whites.
Hi Barnet.. Like you I am not well versed in the financial side of running a football club, and dont pretend to be otherwise. My understanding is that TH receives a very favourable rate of interest (8%) on the loans he has made, over one million pounds per year is the figure mentioned by those more familiar with the finance than me. It could be that in order to service that interest players have to be sold, regardless of whether they are high earners or not. It is difficult to see TH allowing the club to go bankrupt when his loans are bringing in such a favourable rate of interest. I am aware that people beleive TH to be a PNE fan but first and foremost he is a business man who is not a Prestonian and neither is the chairman for that matter. It is hard to understand how a man of such great wealth and supposedly a PNE fan will not support HIS club financialy sufficiently to take the club forward. Yes he has prevented the club having to go into administration by making loans to PNE but he owns PNE and those loans are giving him more than a million in interest per year. Thousands of supporters have been forced to sell their shares for a pittance to TH and are now wondering why they did, given the events since his takeover. It might be worth taking a look at the latest article by tommyt for the latest update on PNE. Treacy did blow hot and cold at times but he is still only 22 and has real potential. He scored quite a few goals last season and Hume has now commented in the LEP that Treacy would have been worth 15 points in the coming season and he is NOT happy at him being sold when the player didn't want to be sold. He was not a high earner and PNE have to give the Rovers a large part of the transfer fee, so neither the supporters nor the PNE players can understand what the club hopes to gain from this sale. I am afraid that the City is akin to the football team and needs a lot of development. It's guild year next year so maybe you might pay the place a visit and Preston might just have trams running by then. Driving around Preston is still a nightmare but helped a great deal by two park and ride areas on the perimeters. Walton Le Dale and Broadgate. All the best Barnet..
Yes it is a distinct possibility maclad.... The rumour has been passed about for most of this afternoon on various forums. There was a rumour yesterday that there was a meeting in the afternoon attended by PB,Horton,Unsworth and chairman MO. I have no idea if the rumour was/is true but wouldn't be surprised if it were. Following Hume's comment's in the LEP and PB's obvious annoyance with the current events AND the supporters adverse reaction to Treacy's departure, there will have been developments behind the scenes at Deepdale. I suspect that ML has been told in no uncertain terms that he had to sanction two or three players being signed as soon as possible......or PB would select a team full of the youngsters for the Colchester game. Most of the youngsters are not ready to play in the first team and playing them too soon could have a detrimental effect on their future. How much truth there is in all this I do not know but I do expect signings to be made quickly.. Amazing isn't it !! we spent weeks during this close season with nothing to report or discuss and since Sunday it's all kicking off...
Plumbs I edited the original post McLean's signed and it looks like others are coming in as well. As for kicking off it will at 3pm on Saturday
Ha ha I missed that edit as I was posting a comment on another thread (and I ain't the quickest on these keys). Good news I think maclad, reports from the pre season games suggest he will be ok. A couple more and we could be in business.. Have got my ST and bought the youngest grandson one as well, first time for him and he like most 9 year olds is a manure freak, so I intend to change all that with the help of PB and the team of course..
Not been on any Pre season so have not seem McLean....is he the answer to the left back problem. ML says more to come....whos that bloke looking for a club....Tevez...thats him will sign by Friday! Plumber; you will have no trouble converting the grandson, did the same with my son, he was a Fergie Freak but came over from the dark side within a few games....now PNE through and through. lets hope for a pleasant Saturday.
Morning marcos.. I haven't been on the pre season games either, but followed all the games on the minute by minute match reports which in fairness tend to be PNE biased etc. Even so McLean did get good reviews backed up by comment's made by fans who did attend the games. He played in the Scot Prem so should be well capable of doing a job in Div1. I dont think PB sees Maclean as the answer for the vacant left back position except for using him as a full back until he signs one. He is versatile and can play CD and both full back positions so a good signing I think. I think that PB wants to sign both Daley and the lad from Rovers and if I am correct it could happen before Saturday's game. I hope that I have more success converting my grandson than I have had with his dad, walking into their house is like walking into the Theatre of dreams... We will see...
Well after weeks of activity with players leaving the club and weeks of inactivity with players not coming in, PNE have finally sprung into life to bring players IN. McLean has signed after impressing PB during the pre season games. Alexander has returned to Deepdale after helping Burnley reach the Prem (since relegated). Jordon's agent is in talks with PNE about signing for the club, and Daley could sign as well depending on him getting a work permit and agreeing a deal. All good stuff and just in time for the start of the new season. Alexander being something of a legend at PNE will be welcomed by many fans, and although getting on in years should certainly be able to cope with the demands of Div 1. His experience and enthusiasm both for the club and football will have a very positive impact on the PNE younger players, and not only that but his return will lift the spirits of most PNE fans who have had a torrid week or two with off the field events. Good luck to all of them and welcome to Deepdale.
The signing of Grezza is interesting, although slighty aged, personally think he's s useful acquisition, doesn't miss penalties and is a top club man and will do wonders for the younger players with his experience. Can't comment about the ability of Daley and Jordan not having seen them. PB knows what he wants time to stop panicking and get behind the lads on the pitch
Rumours still flying about re the vacant LB position, the link below suggests that this lad at Bradford might be on his way to PNE. We will soon find out if there is any substance to the story. http://bcafc.livewwware.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=64698&sid=09db889a1e9585bb88cee95a19332a6b
