Although negotiations for a comprehensive free trade agreement were concluded on 17 October 2014. No agreement has yet been ratified so not sure how it's led to 100% increase in trade. But as always Rob you know best.

Well, unless Singapore and South Korea had some kind of merger I missed, I think Rob might have you on this one...

? We won't know whether we're currently in a recession for at least another 4-5 months, when the data comes out and if it shows two consecutive quarters

The article suggests we might well be.

Short term pain for long term gain, that was always going to be the case.

I work in the supply sector for the building industry and post Brexit we've never been so busy in years, in fact we can't get the stuff out of the door quick enough. We are currently in the process of recruiting more staff in all areas of the business as we're struggling to cope at present.

I understand the thermalite blocks are currently in short supply suggesting that despite the doom mongers builders are still building.

How on earth do you know "long term gain" will happen? Economists were panned for suggesting they might be able to predict anything beyond a few months, so how people who aren't even experts believe they know there will be a long term gain is bewildering.

We've not even actually Brexited and, fortunately, it's got to the stage where we probably won't Brexit other than optically because it is close to being practically and politically impossible. But the damage the vote has done to our economy is unfortunately deep and likely to be lasting.

The other problem with "long term gain" is it's meaningless. What does "long term" amount to? 10 years? What if you're in your 20s and 30s and the next ten years are the ones that are most important for your career? How does this help?

Those under 40 are the first generation on record to be worse off than their parents' generation. That is the damage that has been done. By 2020, the voters who voted for Brexit who will have died will exceed the majority in the referendum, and we will only have Brexited for at most a year.

This has already been explained multiple times - FTSE100 mostly benefits from a weak pound and that took a further tumble today after its marginal recovery (still at 1980s levels) after the Tories sorted themselves out. The FTSE250 is on a clear downward trajectory since the last General Election.

Eh? Ferralite or whatever they are called has mothballed two major brick kilns because orders have been cancelled and dried up.

All the major housebuilders' shares are down 20-30%

They are all slowing operations. You are completely making stuff up now.

I have to say the ability of humans to bury their heads in the sand in order not to have to face the weighty reality is pretty impressive.

In which case why are you so sure long term we'll be worst off, anyway despite what remainers might want to believe Brexit is about much more than just the economy & immigration.

Interesting that you've had to wait so long to post a report with some bad new. I guess you just ignored some of the indicators that came out that didn't suit your view.

I did not say we were going to be long term worse off. I said I believed economists who said we were. They at least are experts, why the hell would I choose to believe someone else.

What more is Brexit about than the economy and immigration? Anti-Semitic placards at the law firm challenging the Article 50 notice procedure, widespread reports of threats to migrants... hmmm

All other arguments about Brexit are complete red herrings as we have already discussed in detail - our democracy is worse for leaving the EU and we have lost sovereignty already, let alone when we lose more sovereignty if we ever actually leave.

You really are stooping to new lows of being disingenuous in your desperation not to have to admit you might be wrong. There were no indicators until now as you well know - it even says that in the article.
