I was an Indy kid, was my era, but as i've grown up I've grown out of most of it and realise I was listening to a lot of ****.
I got the very end of punk. Then all if the ska stuff (hence the specials) Time passed i used to sleep listening to slipknot. Must be the beat.. but i have always loved rockabilly/psychobilly. Must be that bass. From 50/60s rockabilly through the stray cats in the 80s to anything that sounds similar
Ha. Remember the last thread? It caused me nightmares. You muffa ****a nigga gansta big titted hoe. Get down and dirty... Arrgghhhhh flashblacks.
The ShowBizz Kids...They were an excellent local band in the late 1970's who never made it big but should have..
Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros, they're a group of hippies it seems but they're a genuinely talented bunch of musicians. I'm guessing they fit into the underrated category because I think they're great and I haven't ever heard anyone else talk about them. Couple of their songs:
ODB's voice stands out in any song, he's instantly recognisable. I've never heard that before though, good stuff.
Well if you're looking for more obscure bands/artists try these..... Freedom AKA is a Salisbury based reggae band that I used follow everywhere back in the 90's when I was still serving in the army. I was introduced to this guy a few years back. Very very talented! This guy is amazing too! Found him on you tube a couple of years ago....
Dub FX is very talented, but he's making some right ****. He worked with Chali 2na on a remix of a C2na track, it wasn't as good as his original but it shows you how clever the guy is. Normally, people like him end up down the 'DJ Yoda' path, they go too far the other way from mainstream that they just become unmarketable. Cut Chemist has the balance almost perfect for me, keeping his stuff original and credible so not selling out, but not making it too underground that it just becomes a novelty in people's iTunes collection.
PIL are not a punk band mate. John Lydon moved on from his Sex Pistols days to form this band that are still going today...
The played in Sunderland a few weeks back. I read some of the reviews. Fairly mixed from still great to utter crap.
Admittedly they're not everyone's cup of tea. John Lydon instantly alienated his punk following when he went all dance meets rock fusion
