Of Course this doesn't come into what we will lose on the pitch, but its nice to put it into perspective when trying to see who is causing the trouble here. MA and DL or JB...

TEAMtalk takes a look at bad-boy Joey Barton's career after the midfielder was handed a free transfer at Newcastle on Monday.

    1982: Born Huyton, September 2.

2003: April - Makes Manchester City debut in a 2-0 defeat at Bolton. Scores first Blues goal in 2-0 win at Tottenham.

April - Stormed out of Eastlands before kick-off after being axed from the side to face Southampton.

July - Blasted by manager Kevin Keegan for causing a mass brawl in a pre-season friendly at Doncaster.

December - Stubbed a lit cigar into the eye of young team-mate Jamie Tandy during club's Christmas party. Fined six weeks' wages by City. Forced to pay four weeks' salary - approximately £60,000 - immediately, with a further two weeks suspended for a year.

2005: May - Barton breaks leg of 35-year-old pedestrian while driving his car at 2am in Liverpool city centre.

July 22 - Involved in an altercation with a 15-year-old Everton fan at City's team hotel in Bangkok, where the team are playing in the FA Premier League Trophy.

July 27 - Fined eight weeks' wages by City after being found guilty of gross misconduct in the Bangkok incident. Agrees to undertake a programme of rehabilitation.

2006: January 30 - Hands in a transfer request, which is instantly rejected.

September 30 - Drops his shorts in the direction of Everton fans following City's 1-1 draw at Goodison Park. Merseyside Police and the Football Association later confirm they are liaising in their investigation into the matter.

October 5 - Charged with improper conduct and/or bringing the game into disrepute by the FA over the Goodison Park incident.

October 10 - Fined £2,000 and warned as to his future conduct by the FA.

2007: January 16 - Everton bid for Barton rejected by Manchester City. Agent Willie McKay reveals the midfielder has a £5.5million release clause in his contract, suggesting Everton triggered this clause.

February 7 - Makes senior England debut as a 78th-minute substitute against Spain.

February 21 - Cleared of making obscene gestures towards Portsmouth fans due to insufficient evidence.

March 13 - Arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage in an incident involving a taxi driver. He is later charged with criminal damage, which he denies. Barton is later cleared of any wrongdoing.

May 1 - Suspended by City for the rest of the season after training-ground altercation with Ousmane Dabo.

June 14 - Completes £5.8million move to Newcastle.

    July 21 - Breaks a metatarsal in a pre-season meeting with Carlisle.

So we are losing a near model professional of the last two years up until tweets? Or was that not the intended view I wasm meant to take. Yep defo a massive miss and big team player. You judge him as you find him now, which is petulant due to poor management (from board not Pardew who has no control)

You can take which ever view you wish, but with next to no truth ever coming our way from the sources that count then its nice to be able to have some sort of help in deciding who is more than likely in the wrong. Barton is a bad egg, his cons definitely outweigh his pros. So I can understand why some people may believe that Barton is playing us with his B+W Stripes, and Loyalty crap. None if it is really any different than any other footballer who is trying to avoid 50,000 gettin on his back each week.

If we want to drag out past history to see whose most likely at fault ,we would have to also review Mr Ashlye's failings in the time period since he has been at Newcastle. I don't think anyone has the energy to put together even a highlights of that.

Dealing with their respective Newcastle careers, Mr Ashley's list of failings is much longer than Bartons.

Ah the abuse angle. It must be because I hate Mike. Am I not just allowed to have a different opinion of the situation to yourself you arrogant prick? (see we can all do it behind a computer) Do you realise how many footballers have punched or tried to punch or otherwise a player on the field of play in the heat of the moment. I'll enjoy this because its such a bad example and shows a total lack of understanding of the sport. That is part and parcel of football. Shearer, D Ferguson, David Batty, Kieron Dyer, Lee Bowyer, Zidane, R Keane, Cantona. Do I need go on?

I can't believe you're trying to justify physical violence which in any other place of work, would have you arrested. You seem to have this notion deep set in you that footballers are beyond the means of us mere mortals, like they have some divine right to act the tit and get away with it because "its part and parcel of football" or "that's just how _professional_ footballers are they need to be handled with care"... **** out of here. And FYI its not abuse, its my opinion that, and the post left above another example of "the ****" that I'm referring to.

Look we won't agree. As I say you're wrong, I wouldn't let my justified hatred of Mike have any bearing on my opinion of the Barton situation or any others. I don't get that emotionally involved. I just think it comes down to how a club manages their players and the envrionment that creates. The original post suggested what would be missing? I have suggested a near model pro over the last years. Gamst Pedersen was a minor incident and in no way I sign that Joey had not reformed. Indeed he apologised and both players acknowledged it as a footalling incident and moved on. Nobody has tried to justify violence. Of course if we lived in a perfect world no one would ever do it the field of play. But it happens. Every ****ing week it happens. If you have ever played the game, surely you know this? Like or not violent acts are part and parcel of football because of the adrenalin and emotion in sport.
