Reading this thread. Maybe the england job is not quite the poisoned chalice its deemed to be. Still imo this time next year SA will be sat in his speedos drinking sangria and writing his next book. Doesnt sound so bad.
Could happen mate, but seriously, we'd need some pretty shocking results against piss-poor teams for him to be sacked, unless he does something off the pitch.
Well having that shower at the FA as my employers doesn't fill me with confidence, Sam is a big boy now and has gone into this with his eyes open so good luck to him. Do I think he will be a success, sadly no as he won't have the time with the players to get his ethos over, it took him four months of constant hard work to sort our lot out last season, and he gets the England players for two weeks at a time. Like I say I wish him well but I wanted him to stay with us but we move on as a club like we always do.
But Sam cant possibly do any worse than that performance against Iceland. Things can only get better from here, surely?
England only have about 6 games during that time, so he will have about 12 weeks with the players but the fixtures look fairly easy apart from his first game. Slovakia (A) Malta (H) Slovenia (A) Scotland (H) Lithuania (H) Scotland (A)
This is what is confusing. Yeah dream job etc. But he's let the chance to compete against Utd. City. Chelsea. Arsenal etc week in week out for that.
I agree Comm, he's gone from pitting his wits week in week out against some of the world's best managers to watching from the stands to see how his new charges are performing, I just don't get it. One upside is he won't need a street map to find the SOL like woy did.
3-4 million for taking that lot on looks like easy street to me, lets face it it is a lot less stressful than Premiership management and in Sams position it makes sense. He is no mug, and with the part time aspect thrown in he will still have plenty of time on that beach or golf course if I am any judge. Lucky man Sam.
Iceland had form going into the tournament though, its just a shame the FA had not taken a look at their manager and left Sam alone.
You know (well at least you know now) he's the guy who made up them facts about the Lincoln Red Imps... I'd hazard a guess that he's made that one up too. Have any of you bothered to read his book, out of interest?
hmm bit similar to turning up to manage your team then ****ing off just after half time and us never hearing from him again, the clueless classless ****.
He won't win the World Cup in Russia and that's a fact. Then he'll be sacked and Wenger will take over ...... end of story.
